I agree with most of your post, aside from saying it’s just “a bit unfair” to put transwomen in with women. It’s just as dangerous as the reverse, but for the women in this case.

Your post does read as though the huge public debate about all of this over the past few years has totally passed you by.

I do think trans people should either have their own separate space, or most likely the use of side wards as there may not be enough trans people to justify whole separate wards. Especially as trans men and trans women would need to be on separate wards from each other.

But I think there’s an argument for everyone to just be on side wards/ their own rooms!

Something that worries me particularly is that children and young people who adopt trans identities are more likely to have poor mental health - their gender issues may be symptomatic of this. It was certainly the case with respect to a family member (now, thankfully, recovered).
If a young person is admitted to a psychiatric ward and allowed to choose a ward according to their gender identity rather than their sex they are likely to be putting themselves or others at risk, not only of actual sexual assault but of anxiety and distress, neither of which are therapeutic.
NHS trusts will always put the patient’s wishes first, even if he or she is a minor and his or her family expresses concern.

They put a female on a ward with mentally ill males... a female who has less than 50% of the upper body strength a man they put on a male ward....

What the ACTUAL fuck....

So many people need to lose their job start with the person who wrote the equity policy putting Gender Identity above sex.

Some NHS trusts have had policies ensuring that male trans sex offenders could be placed on women's wards. Imagine working in the NHS and knowing that you're working alongside colleagues enabling sex offenders to access unconsenting, unwell women. It defies belief.

Trans sex offenders can go on women’s wards, hospitals advise

If someone uses the word 'cis', or ever chants the mantra TWAW, TMAM or NBAV in earnest, it should immediately veto them from having anything to do with safeguarding.

I have never seen anything corrupt logic, thought or reason like gender identity ideology does before.

The victim in the OP's link should never, ever have been put in that situation. The cover up is horrific and the people involved should be investigated and held to account.

I hope this case starts the process of gutting gender ideology from NHS policy and from safeguarding in general.

This was utter insanity and those responsible should be on trial. The cover up is an utter disgrace.

There needs to be an inquiry into the situation in the NHS because woman seem unsafe in their care as both staff and patients.

💯

We need provision for specifically trans people at this point. Transgender bathrooms, wards, etc. It's very segregatey but honestly seems to be the only way to keep trans people safe from men. If a trans woman was put in an all male ward they'd probably be at risk too for presenting feminine.

We could stick all trans people in with women, but that's a bit unfair when women also might not feel safe around biological males. Which is understandable, really.

But the biggest issue in this is how easily men will rape and sexusally assault anyone who is not a cis man. Even mentally ill they're not raping all the other men on the ward, but the moment a trans person goes in... Rape. So you can't blame the mental illness else they'd be raping everyone else in the ward already too.

Men are a big problem and I dunno why we're beating around the bush about it and blaming everyone else BUT them for it.

Edited

But they are such a small percentage of the population, we’d build all these extra wards just for them to be empty half the time. And are we doing separate wards for FTMs and MTFs?

The whole thing is appalling. Even if the woman in question had wanted to be on the male ward she should have been saved from her delusions by the system. The NHS needs to get a fucking grip. And anyone obstructing the justice system should be dealt with properly.

The article says she was on the women’s ward and was transferred to the men’s. I assume on request(?). The staff would be fearful of disciplinary or losing their job even if they had doubts about this. The policies affirmation only self ID.

to those saying separate rooms etc, while thats a nice idea usually separate rooms are kept for people who are dying (and sometimes they don’t have space for that)

Bunnyofhope · 20/05/2026 10:54

This is disgraceful.
This woman was very mentally ill and doesn't have capacity to decide she prefers a mens ward. She is not able to understand the implications of that decision. She did not want to be raped and hadn't forseen it. It's staffs job to protect her by taking that decision away from her. Wards need to be by birth sex.
And there are no side rooms. People are accommodated hundreds of miles from their homes because of lack of space and side rooms for trans people are not a priority.
This whole case is a complete dereliction of duty from professionals who should be on trial along with the actual rapist. (Not the poor sod the NHS implicated although they new him to be innocent)

Agreed, and it’s also a dereliction of duty of the whole NHS, as policies that allow - and even encourage - this are pretty much universal.
