Today I’ve been back in my coat getting drenched in the rain. But temperature forecast of up to 28 degrees all next week. Sunny weather all week. But it’s a school holiday - surely the forecast is wrong!

YABU - just go for it and book all those outdoor excursions!

YANBU - the weather is trying to get our hopes up only to dash them at the last minute!

there's no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing.

Kneenightmare · 19/05/2026 13:14

No it will be as I didn’t book any time off this half term.

shellyleppard · 19/05/2026 13:15

I've been sat on the beach wearing a t shirt in February before now!! Then I've had snow in April.... picnic lunch in the car with the heating on that day 🤣🤣

Weather forecasts have been hopeless for ages, they change by the hour even for the day ahead. I don't trust them at all anymore, it's not just one app either. Has anyone else noticed this?

Sunisgettinganewhaton · 19/05/2026 13:17

It's a late April's fool...

AllJoyAndNoFun · 19/05/2026 13:19

Don’t worry- I’m going away so the weather in the uk will be lovely

Empress13 · 19/05/2026 13:20

I swear it’s all a conspiracy with weather forecasts. Have you noticed the app always changes on the day ! They say it’s nice to get people to book and pay for all the activities trust me !

Ha ha that’s true! I’ve waited until the last second to book before and the weather still changed!

It's going to be awful, noisy children and dogs everywhere

This is such bullshit. There is no clothing that can make sitting on a beach in strong winds, rain and freezing cold as nice as sitting on a beach in the sun.

Maybe clothing can include a tent for zipping up and staying in? 😂

I'm sorry to the good women of Mumsnet - I've just booked camping for next week so now it will 100% be raining. Sorry guys 😔

Oh no! It’s clearly the equivalent of me buying loads of suntan lotion - instant rainclouds and plummeting temperatures.

I heard after COVID the trans-atlantic flights never went back to normal capacity and they were essential for data gathering for weather forecasting.

Also BBC stopped using met office for it's weather forecast and that made it less accurate in my opinion.

Lastly...climate change and the collapsing gulf stream?

chubley · 19/05/2026 16:21

We think a bank holiday gets a bad forecast to put people off travelling!

maybe this time the economy needs a boost from a great forecast… people spending £££ on fuel, train fares, ice creams and meals out, fish and chips, parking etc!

The weather often seems to change/arrive earlier than forecast. Last bank holiday it said rain but the rain came earlier, on the Sunday then the Monday was dry.

cobrakaieaglefang · 19/05/2026 17:07

Colleague only said at lunchtime that 'they' ( not sure who 'they' are) are psychotic bastards who want us ill..and if it looks naturally nice will be up spraying skies, so its going to rain! 😉🤔🙈😂

This is completely untrue - weather has the potential to absolutely ruin so many occasions

Shhhh. You'll jinx it...
