AIBU to be annoyed about children in an adults only bar

Just a rant.
I'm on a cruise.
One bar is strictly adults only.
Multiple parents over the last 3 nights have come in with their kids and been asked to leave, all of them making various arguments as to why THEIR kid is special and should be allowed.
The sheer entitlement is astonishing.
The bar is ADULTS ONLY which means only people over 18 are welcome. No exceptions.
Stop it.

Ha MN AI'd my title.
Should say "FFS stop bringing your kids in to an adult only bar"

At least they are being asked to leave - would be more annoying if the staff weren’t enforcing it.

Yeah true, but it is taking a while as staff are busy. In the meantime we have to listen to them being noisy, watching screens etc.

The last cruise we went on had an adults only bar, pool and hottub in a solarium setting. People kept bringing their kids in there because the pool was nicer and not crowded. It was not a typical school break week. I was annoyed but wouldn't say anything but most of the other people thought nothing of speaking up.

Yeah this!

YANBU. On our honeymoon, there was a kids / general pool and a quiet adults only pool and this loud, obnoxious family insisted on using the adults pool every day. The staff never asked them to leave. Luckily we were quite close to the end of our holiday but its 8years on and I still remember how much they annoyed me at the time!

XenoBitch · 18/05/2026 20:24

YANBU and it is good they are being asked to leave.
Sadly, you get entitled people everywhere that somehow think they are special.
Enjoy your holiday 🚢

I am very impressed the staff is sending them away.

If I get rid of my own kids for a few days, if's certainly not to put up with other people kids instead, I'd be raging 😂

and mine can actually behave, no scream or screen but there are enough family places that they are not needed in adult only bars.

Tableforjoan · 18/05/2026 20:29

They should be black listed by the company for future cruises tbh

mamajong · 18/05/2026 20:30

Yanbu, i expect there are plenty of places kids can go, some people are entitled knobheads but glad its being enforced, more annoying when it isn't imo

I would be interested to hear any justification for this.

I remember being on a dog free beach in wales in a heat wave years ago. We had purposefully chosen it as it was a dog free beach as we had a baby and toddler who were scared of big dogs running at them and would be playing with sand. Never forget a lady with a huge dog and nose literally in the air walking her enormous dog right through all the families 🙄.

I bet she lives there and thinks she is special and the rules don't apply to her.

There is a lovely memorial garden in my town centre. Dogs are not allowed, not even on a lead. You still get people thinking they are somehow exempt, and walking their dog through there.
Saying that, ball games are also banned and that does not stop people also taking the piss.

Either a local who hates tourist’s or a tourist who has no respect. Either way a wanker.

When the doggie people go well go places dog are not allowed. Well we try but you still come!!

Gillydoller · 18/05/2026 20:41

I’d enjoy the people watching entertainment of it all.

Dogs are allowed to be walked in cemeteries where I live and as a result they’re just on big poo park. It’s disgusting.

I can’t imagine the type of person you have to be to take your dog to go toilet on graves tbh.

So disgusting and disrespectful.

GordonRamsey · 18/05/2026 20:46

Every adult should be issued with a 'spud gun' to fire at trespassing children. IMO.

faithfultoGeorgeMichael · 18/05/2026 20:54

We went to a hotel in Thailand with 5 kids pools/3 restaurants and ONE adults only pool, bar and restaurant. Every single day parents argued and argued - I felt so sorry for the staff. English families were one of the main culprits sadly.

AllBranGirl · 18/05/2026 20:57

The sheer entitlement is astonishing.

They always think they are special and exempt from the rules. Bet they weren’t like that before they were parents.

There are literally 10 or so other venues. Only 1 is adult only!

So far:
Oh, he's only 2 months old! He'll be asleep!
They're good kids, they'll sit quietly.
She's 15! Almost an adult!

Rinse and repeat.

All entitled excuses.

The last one is creepy as hell. Imagine that being accepted in other contexts.

I hadn't even thought of that but yes 100%!
