AIBU to think the Fury’s have moved to the IOM purely for this wedding to take place and in turn keep Netflix interested?

Seems odd they lived in one place for years, half the last show was about Venezuela’s love life, then suddenly she’s engaged, the whole family ups and moves.

Side note, do you think they will be back now or stay on the IOM?

Surely they went for tax reasons?

Larrythecatforpm · 17/05/2026 17:13

Yabu. It was for tax purposes.

Arlanymor · 17/05/2026 17:15

I would say tax more than anything! They could have gone to Scotland where you can still get married at 16, but it's no longer legal in England or Wales, or the Republic of Ireland, even with parental approval. Fine in Northern Ireland or Scotland but, as I say, there aren't the tax breaks!

Boomer55 · 17/05/2026 17:16

It was for tax.

Zanatdy · 17/05/2026 17:18

No it was to save tax. They could have just gone to Scotland for the wedding.

Tax

But it does have very close links to Morecambe!

saveforthat · 17/05/2026 17:21

I misread this as Furrys

ChasingRainbow5 · 17/05/2026 17:26

Defo cos it’s a tax haven.

AlertMentor · 17/05/2026 17:30

Tax. I thought I read earlier that therecare family members who reside on Isle of Man all the time. Certainly big leap to say its just so someone can get married at 16. You can also still marry in Scotland if resident there. (So people who live in England cannot get round the law change in England and pop over the border to Gretna).

TheLemonLemur · 17/05/2026 17:31

Tax reasons, privacy and its not really that far from where they lived previously. They could easily have went across the border to Scotland for a wedding so no I don't think they moved for the wedding

BillieWiper · 17/05/2026 17:34

Of course not. As if they'd do that just to facilitate an otherwise underage wedding. They have six other kids and I'm sure they are doing it for their own financial reasons as a family.

It's quite unusual for celebrities to remain in their modest home town decades after they've made their fortune. So I'm surprised they didn't do it sooner.

glassof · 17/05/2026 18:16

Is it not also that you can get married at 16 in iom but it's 18 in England and Scotland?

It is 16 in Scotland but only for those normally resident in Scotland. ie English residents cannot just go to Scotland to get married. The law change in England closed any loopholes on that.

JumpingRabbit · 17/05/2026 19:14

Ah fair enough. I never thought about the tax.
