Evri saying that they can’t deliver a parcel because the “front door is inaccessible”

But they delivered another one yesterday in the exact time frame that this parcel was due to be delivered. Both parcels were due from 10:30-12:30. The one that was delivered was marked as delivered at 11:27. The message to say the house is inaccessible came at 11:28.

I’m assuming because it’s a suitcase, it’s in a rather large box. Bulky, but not heavy.

AIBU to complain to them? I don’t see how they can say that when they delivered another package yesterday!

It’s an excuse. Our postman says RM do the same when they’re under staffed

I had that same message with a parcel from Royal Mail a few months ago. The next day my (lovely) postie was complaining he’d been off the day before and no one had covered his round.

I suspect it was too big for them to fit in their van with the other stuff. They sometimes give those delivery messages when they don’t physically have the parcel with them. Expect it to turn up in day or two!

Used to get that with Royal mail/ parcel force .

I would be in the house and notice a " while you were out" card pop through the letterbox. So chase postie outside only to be told " well the parcel is in the depot"

Lazy buggers thought that I could show up.there to collect from than then delivering ( which is their job)

All the courier companies do this. I had DPD say they couldn’t access my property to deliver our weekly food box delivery. It’s perishable and had to be disposed of.

it was utter nonsense. They made no attempt whatsoever to deliver.

NamechangebumpforMandy · 18/05/2026 09:52

If they are late they will just lie and say you weren’t in as otherwise they get penalised for non delivery. I’ve found this with every delivery company.

The absolute pits I have experienced recently was Parcelforce. Sender had requested pre-noon delivery. Parcelforce couldn’t comply as it was Christmas so they said twice in a row I wasn’t in, then tried to deliver on the one day I had asked them not to redeliver as J wasn’t in, then sent it to a depot in the middle of nowhere and didn’t leave a card telling me which one (I eventually guessed which it was by googling). I’d rather they just delivered a bit later in the day, but I think the sender can claim money back so they of course don’t.

Because your local courier is useless and you want your parcel. Its inconvenient but its practical.

Or she could do her job

Have you received this yet?

Yes, it showed up yesterday. Just such poor service from them

They are scamming their targets. The should be delivering within X days according to the service purchased, but then don't do it quickly enough. If they log it as undelivered because they were too slow/busy they miss their target and have to give money back.

But if they blame the customer, then it's not their fault and they still get paid in full when they actually deliver it to you 3 days past the deadline.

I've had this happen twice to me recently with a parcel from royal mail. It happened yesterday and I'm livid at them! I have a wide open front path to the main road and they didnt even attempt to deliver when I got a text thru saying they could t access the address.

I immediately gave them a 1 star review on trust pilot!

In my experience Evri spout endless rubbish regarding access to your property and deliveries. I was sitting in my front room waiting for a delivery. I got a message from Evri saying the driver had been unable to gain access to my property. My camera showed no one had been near my property.

It’s impossible to speak to anyone at Evri. As a delivery company, they are absolute shite.
