Seems a key skill for a health secretary..

"I think a woman is an adult female and a trans woman"

Starmer’s just appointed James Murray as the new Health Secretary the man now running the entire NHS. And this is how he defines a woman when a actual woman challenges him: Woman: “Do you think it’s a bit strange that you’re a man telling me, a woman,...

Do we know when this quote came from? If it was peak ‘women can have penises’ and ‘rights hoarding dinoasaurs’ times, he needs to be asked the question again now. If he gives the same answer then he’s identified himself as stupid. If he gives the answer most of us would like to hear (AHF) then he’s a coward.

smallglassbottle · 15/05/2026 15:33

Do we think he'll bring back that smears for transwomen and chest feeding nonsense?

So women are adult human females and any man who says so?

Pretty transphobic to transmen and the non-binaries too.

Pretty exclusionary to non trans men too. What mysterious biological features do women and trans men have in common that are not share by all other men?

SwirlyGates · 15/05/2026 15:49

Oh the clip of Julia Hartley-Brewer wiping the floor with him is gold. He says trans women are women, then they talk about sport and he says it's up to the individual sporting bodies.

JHB "So you can exclude some women from competing with other women"

JHB "Do you see how it's not possible to hold both ideas in your head at the same time?"

😂

JFC.

Seconded

There’s going to be leadership election, so this bloke won’t last long. It would be helpful if he knew what a woman is, but he’s harmless in the short term. 🙄

Idk, Lammy is still around isn't he? And we still have the paedophile excuser HH who was recently promoted. None of it is harmless, it's insidious.

Maybe he’ll appoint Lily Madigan as an advisor?

Blimey that's a blast from the past. 😂

"I think a woman is an adult female and a trans woman"

I'm not 100% sure I understand what he means. Could he give an example of someone - anyone - who is "an adult female and a trans woman"?

DaffodilLill · 16/05/2026 10:36

None of the Labour cabinet has ever had a job in the private sector ( RR worked in a bank for a while.)

They have all gone straight from uni into working for a political party, the public sector, a union or a local council. They have never had their careers on the line because of budget cuts, shareholders votes, lack of profit/ investment.
Many have started work as a 'researcher' for other MPs etc.

They have zero idea of how businesses work, what life is like outside of local and national politics and - if they left politics- would probably not last a week in a snr role in FTSE 100 companies.

They are all f....useless.

I think health secretaries should actively provide a robust and healthy NHS something the Tories failed to do for 15 years and Reform have no intention of providing as they want to do away with it completely but there you go.

Nomdemare · 16/05/2026 21:24

Dreadful. But sadly to be expected from this Labour govt. They will be out at the next election. (And no, I’m not a Reform voter)
