AIBU to consider taking a wetsuit for my 4YO on holiday?

We're due to go away on holiday next week to Crete to a hotel that we'd specifically picked for having a heated pool. However Jet2Holidays have just emailed to say that the hotel have changed things and the pool won't be heated after 15th May! My 4YO is a skinny kid and feels the cold easily, so considering taking a wetsuit to try and keep him warm. Or am I overthinking it?

Yes it’s a good idea.

depends how hot where you are going is though

I think you’d regret not taking it, rather than taking it, if that makes sense.

A bit different age wise but we took 2 fleecy suits for our baby to Spain as everyone said the pool was freezing. He was actually okay in his normal swimsuit as the pool was fine, but yes take just incase. Does no harm to have it packed. There will be nothing worse than him wanting to use the pool and can't, although I reckon the pool will be warm enough in Crete in May. Most outdoor pools abroad aren't heated after May.

I cannot comprehend the horror of repeatedly helping my 4 year old put on and take off a wetsuit all day long

Yes, we did this for my son at a similar age. You can buy short sleeved ones for kids with a zip up the front that are easy to get in and out of.

Yes we always did this when taking our kids on holiday in spring and autumn months.

It’s a very good idea

Why wouldnt you take it?

Cold children whinge

Yes, it keeps them in the water far longer. We went to Teignmouth each summer and there was a shop there that sold wetsuits and then bought them back for half price the following summer. Brilliant.

Definitely a good idea to take it
