To party or not to party?

I don't know if this would be socially inappropriate so I'm abusing the vote option to tell me if I should go.

My life has been less than ideal meaning I spent a lot of time isolated, without friends or family. Things are improving but I'm still not always sure if I'm making a fool of myself.

I was attending a fitness group on and off for just over a year. The core attendees became good friends but didn't see each other outside the group. Dynamics changed due to management and core members all stopped going.

Couple of days ago I came across something that a core member was interested in so I messaged her about it. Unprompted she invited me to another of the core members (who is also her relative) party. I said I'd go if I could (I'm disabled, they know sometimes I have to bow out last minute). I won't know anyone else, but I'm not going to expand my social circle sat at home.

In these circumstances would you go?

Yabu- stop over thinking it and go.
Yanbu- the party host hasn't invited you, stay home.

I’d just say ‘love to come, would ‘your relative’ not mind?’ To put my mind at rest. Then, go for it!

I’m sure the host won’t mind but I’d say “as long as it’s definitely ok with xx I’d love to come along” and if you find it too much you can always bow out quietly once everyone else is in the swing of it! I usually do a French Exit so they don’t necessarily know how early I left and I don’t have the embarrassment of having to say goodbye to a bunch of strangers. Hope you have fun

@SnowflakeSmasher86 not heard the term ‘French exit’ before - is it when you discreetly slide away rather than make a big fanfare about going?
