To have lost all interest in work following bereavement?

Just that really. I lost a parent suddenly at the start of the year. I’m late 40s, menopausal and have just lost interest. Has this happened to anyone and how long did it take to pass?

I feel you. This happened to me. I am now 18 months in and my head is back into work and other stuff now; I can't remember the point where it returned exactly.

Everyone is different though, aren't they?

In the time where I had lost interest, I found speaking over the phone to a volunteer at a bereavement charity worked for me. I think it might have been Sue Ryder or Cruse. So, within my working day, whenever I needed to, I just picked up the phone to them. Or I would just take myself off for a break. Luckily I had a flexible role where the hours weren't fixed so I was able to have that bit of flexibility in my day when I needed it.

I hope you find the support you need right now. 💐

YANBU. The world keeps turning when you lose a parent and everything else seemed pointless for a while. My Mum died in January. As the previous poster said everyone is different. I am also menopausal and it's just the last few weeks that I feel my energy levels returning and managing to do more than the bare minimum outside work. Hope things improve for you soon.

I second this. I did the course and it was so helpful.

There is nothing 'normal' or 'abnormal' about grief OP. Be kind to yourself.

Me too. Give it time. How long depends entirely on how you experience it. Sending you very best wishes.

Same happened to me. I actually left that job and switched to something which had more meaning for me. Not easy right now I know though. A friend did return to her job, took her a few months in that case. Sorry for your loss OP.
