ID'd for laxatives at 30

neveraskingtime · 09/05/2026 19:42

Why do I need ID to buy laxatives? I am so constipated and bloated. I tried to explain to the clerk that I'm 30 and have a buy to let mortgage.

PP volunteered the information about herself in her posts, no one is forcing her to disclose her miseries nor forcing her to visit Mumsnet. A cursory click on someone's username to glance into their posts does not qualify as stalking. However, persistent contact with someone, as PP is doing here as she feverishly refreshes my thread, could be interprted as such under the law.

I'm not angry but I am constipated. Off to Sainsburys now where their ID policy may be more reasonable.

I dont think its much fun being blocked up with turd either.

How as anyones income got anything to do with your morgage, ID and laxatives.
Just be honest you have embarrassed yourself.

Embarrassment is a choice and I choose not to be embarrassed. Why would I be embarrassed of a joke I made and thought I'd share on mumsnet. Only mumsnet could get so triggered about such a harmless and innocuous joke which I thought was so painfully obvious that I would never have to explain it to anyone.

This ID business has gone too far. Maybe as a country we need to chill tf out.

ButterYellowFlowers · 09/05/2026 20:44

Lol I’m 30 and got IDd for paracetamol the other day. I don’t carry ID so it’s pretty annoying

ButterYellowFlowers · 09/05/2026 20:45

youalright · 09/05/2026 19:50

Because people abuse laxatives. My dd is 19 and has a mortgage i don't see what thats got to do with anything. Just carry your id

How would knowing their age change if they’re abusing them or not?

Its about stopping children and teenagers doing it and as most shops are challenge 25 its not that surprising a 30 year old being asked for I.D.

So you have to be 18, so shops check anyone who looks 25, which results in people 12 years senior of the age being denied purchase… 30 isn’t 25 and 25 isn’t 18, it’s stupid.

ScrambledEggs12 · 09/05/2026 20:52

Don't you need ID to get a mortgage?

Can you tell someone's exact age because I work in a shop and I.d people daily and i certainly can't and I certainly won't risk my job over it.

Morepositivemum · 09/05/2026 20:54

I used to have to buy them for a family member and would have to explain everything and convince them I hadn’t an Ed every single time. Same pharmacy. I was in my 30s too
