I guess that means I don't have it?

I've chased as well

It can take weeks! Not much you can do if you have already chased. Very annoying.

I hope you get it!

DinnerTimeCabbageSoz · 08/05/2026 16:31

Not necessarily! They will tell you one way or the other in time.

TofuTuesday · 08/05/2026 16:31

I think that’s a long time not to know and they have other preferred candidates

Why weeks?

From my own experience, successful candidate is told the same day as the interviews, and the delay in telling everyone else is due to successful candidate thinking the offer over…

CornishPorsche · 08/05/2026 16:54

I interviewed for an internal promotion today. Approx 30 interviewees over 3 weeks, don't expect to hear a peep before the first week of June.

Quokka99 · 08/05/2026 16:57

If you've chased and heard nothing then probably you haven't got the job. If they were still interviewing or deciding they would've told you that when you chased. As a side note, I found out I hadn't got a promotion I'd gone for when the successful candidate (from a different part of the company) announced in a large meeting that they had been offered it. I'd have much prefered to hear it from the hiring manager so I could digest the news in private.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 08/05/2026 17:27

I got told that day

Purplewarrior · 08/05/2026 17:27

EnglishBrits · 08/05/2026 16:38

Why weeks?

Interviewees on holiday, interviewers off sick, all sorts of things cause delays.

Infuriating.

DS was interviewed two weeks ago for internal role. None of the applicants have heard yet…

Getmeacoffeenow · 08/05/2026 17:29

This is normal at my large corporate

So you know everyone who was interviewed? It’s not possible another person was interviewed who needed a later date?

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 08/05/2026 18:27

Did they not say at the end of the interview you can expect to hear from us at the end of next week? Or whatever time frame.

Yep that was the end of the week at the weak of the interview and again this week

Yes correct I do. It's internal job so was able to find out from staff and diaries

My record for an internal job is 8 months. Gave up chasing after two months. When I finally got a 'you haven't been successful' email I felt like replying "no shit, Sherlock". Obviously didn't.

Generally my experience is that if you don't hear by the deadline they've set, you haven't got it. They're busy securing the successful candidate and the rejections are just an admin task, unless their first choice turns it down.

Hope I'm wrong and you have some luck!

Yeah I guess they had someone else

I had this recently, I didn’t get it but was the second choice so they were waiting to tell me until the successful candidate had accepted and references checked etc.

In my experience if you’re the first choice they offer it straight away.

EnglishBrits · 08/05/2026 23:10

Yeah a bit of a back story but she called me and told me to apply etc. they rewrite the job advert etc. it's a bit disapointing.

OP posts:
EnglishBrits · 08/05/2026 23:25

Yeah I totally haven't got it.

After all if I was external I wouldn't be waiting this long

Not neccessarily. Im applying for new jobs at the minute. Applied for one in Feb. Started interview process a couple of weeks later. Final stage interview was 3 weeks ago on monday. I heard i was unsuccessful yesterday...(I did chase after 2 weeks)

EnglishBrits · 09/05/2026 10:10

It's all kinda embarrassing. So hiring person told me to apply and now it's been blocked. They had interviews and no one showed. They had a few positions and filled those. I wanted to get back in that industry and they changed the job spec.. I know they had other people to interview on the same day. She kinda made out the job was mine - even asked about notice periods etc. but anyway life goes on
