I hope Reform gives them what they wanted in their lovely local councils.
Increased council tax by over 8%
Massively increased prices for services which they have to pay for I.e social care for elderly.
If they thought it was bad now let them feel what bad is.

Good luck with the shit show.

I didn’t vote reform but I’ve had a labour council for years. It’s a complete shithole because they do nothing for the area. They just assume they will get voted in every single year. I despise them for what they’ve done here. I’m sure reform will get in but it can’t be any worse

Also I’m actually a lone parent, so unless you think I’m sitting here in earshot of my children talking to myself about how much I hate Farage like someone with schizophrenia, then there’s zero chance of her having “heard her parents talking about it”.

She picked up his leaflet from the doormat and made up her own mind about it and clearly felt strongly enough about it that she had decided to go off to her room and write/ draw him a response which she handed to me at bedtime.

Hence my pride in her judgement of character.

Yeah alright! But you said this “Farage, this is you. Stop sending things like this to our house”. I posted it back to Reform’s headquarters with a covering letter.”
So you did have some involvement and openly encouraged it by posting it to Reform’s HQ!

Meanwhile my 6 year old plays with her dolls. She doesn’t yet have a clue who farage is and she certainly doesn’t make personal attacks on people and draw them as a slug!

Senescence · 08/05/2026 05:40

Nope.

It’s funny, because my baby grandson saw a photo of Starmer, and his first words were ‘Look at that spineless, duplicitous, incompetent cretin’.

Yep, that didn’t happen, either.

You asked the question and I answered it. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Believe what you wish, I don’t really care, although I don’t appreciate insinuations that I’m a liar.

You really think I’d be discussed the intricacies of UK politics with a 6 year old, the disturbing things that are happening that are not age appropriate for her to know etc?

I suppose given the things some people on this thread are prepared to believe then this isn’t any more barmy, but still quite ridiculous.

Well done @Senescence you raised a child who can think and make sound judgement.

On a brighter note - let us rejoice at the local and devolved election results coming through!

How does a six year old know what a politician is if you don’t talk about it to her? They don’t learn about them in school at that age so someone has had to inform her.

Well wait and see then.

If you can't see it you will feel it.

I thought you was talking about a grown adult daughter until I read she was 6!
A 6 year old directing so much hate and making personal comments about an individual! Wonder who she gets that from!

Hahaaa no, no hate. Except her hate for the hate he put through our front door. She read it and clearly intensely disliked it. I was working at the time so didn’t even know about the leaflet or read it myself until after she handed me the leaflet and her response at bedtime. But make up whatever invented story you like.

The usual thing exactly as highlighted throughout the thread with Farage Fans trying to blame everyone else for their natural reactions of horror from sane people - yes, even children - to his nasty views.

My daughter knows nothing about politics (again, she is 6 years old!) but she can read, and she has been raised with good values about being kind to people and she isn’t racist and many of her friends are from other countries so she found what she read in this leaflet quite disgusting.

It’s a shame many posters haven’t managed to reach her current level of moral and intellectual capability even as adults.

No, no.

All Reform councils must be given time - the same amount of time that this Labour government keeps pleading for.

That’s only fair.

I think a lot of people will have voted Reform, because they're unhappy with the national picture. These are local elections; it's a whole different ball game. Voting Reform now because you want to see changes to immigration, isn't going to help your local area one iota. I think a lot of local councils will have a hard time, with inexperienced councillors. If the Reform candidates who were standing for election were banging on about national issues rather than local, it shows their absolute lack of knowledge about the job they're trying to be elected for...

this.

I voted Lib Dem and I’m a Green ffs!

What’s your 6-year old’s view on Polanski and the Greens, please?

Am I supposed to believe all that? Whatever! 🤣🤣 You said you posted it back to the HQ though? Why help her spread the hate?

Or quantum physics considering she’s got a very good understanding of everything else.

I really don’t care what you believe. But the protocol if you wish to accuse someone of lying would be to report their post, rather than throw accusations of lying at them on the thread itself. I assume you just didn’t know this so won’t report your posts, but please comply with the Talk Guidelines going forward.

Why post it back to their HQ then? (If you’re actually telling the truth 🤣)

I can’t stand Keir Starmer but my kids don’t know much about him beyond the fact he’s the PM I certainly wouldn’t be posting any nasty pictures or remarks my kids make of him. I’d like to think I was a better person than that

We haven’t had any leaflets from the Greens here to my knowledge so I don’t think she’s aware of their existence. She has no idea what a political party is anyway, because she is 6.

She simply objected to racist material being posted through our letterbox, which is perfectly reasonable of her.

Because I also don’t particularly like the fact unsolicited racist mail was posted through my letterbox so I thought it should be returned to the sender with her observations to consider, which we rather astute in my opinion.

Well, seeing as you are teaching early politics to your DD, may I recommend teaching her balance and context, and therefore, giving her the entire manifestos for all political parties, so that she can read through them all.

Clubtropicanasun · 08/05/2026 05:56

OneTealShaker · 08/05/2026 01:42

Even better for Reform if that happens.

Lots of councillors everywhere building up their war chest in terms of campaigners everywhere. But not enough power to be held accountable if the my don’t have overall control of councils. Makes for a very attractive landscape to win the GE.

💯

Why Did the leaflet mention skin colour or that one ethnicity is superior to another or something similar? Because if not how would she know it’s ‘racist’?????

Yep, that didn’t happen, either.

Actually when my son was 1.5 and I was watching news on TV at breakfast time assuming he understood none of it he got up from the table and walked around to stare at the TV, pointed at it and shouted very crossly “silly, silly man!” when Trump was giving a press conference during his first term. I wasn’t anticipating that either. They seem to have a visceral reaction to liars.

I suppose according to you either I imagined that very funny incident and demonstration of innate good character judgement as well or had somehow indoctrinated an 18 month old into certain political views.

Viviennemary · 08/05/2026 06:00

Labour had a huge majority. Even I voted for them. Keir Starmer has made a complete mess of things. He has to go end of. It'll be more mealy mouthed weasle words from him in a few hours. Pulling together, he's not going anywhere yaddy yaddy ya. Too late he's toast. If his own MP's are too feeble to oust him the electorate will oust them.

Nope - not talked to her about politics at all yet.
