To think Starmer will be gone by the end of Friday? Or will it be Monday evening?

Whoever you are voting for today, it's probably not Labour - they might loose 2,000 seats.

How long exactly will it be before he resigns?

Because the media would launch the same level of attack they have with Starmer (whatever you think of his performance the media has been vitriolic beyond reason), did with Corbyn, and Miliband, and Foot…

Yes but if you watched any of the Vox pops in the areas where Reform have done well, many people commented on Starmer as a person and we're alluding to him not being relatable and authentic. I don't believe this is true or what people should vote on but this is what is being peddled as the issue. At the other end of spectrum are young Gen Z voters who have turned to the Greens. The Labour party don't appear to employ anyone in their communications department that can capture that generation's attention.

Were not "we're".

I find it odd that BP and others within Labour keep blaming ‘the story’ or ‘comms’.

How about they actually genuinely ‘listen’ to the electorate, and address their concerns as opposed to the trite ‘I get it’.

Yes, maybe then they’d have a hope.

One older man in said Vox Pops even added that he liked Burnham and would vote for him, his wife agreed.

I trust that the man did not tell his wife that she must agree….

(Joke)

It's certainly a case of if you can't beat them, join them at this stage. Reform are all about the Comms!

Goldenbear we agree on something (partly)!

Hallowedturf · 10/05/2026 12:23

And to think - Starmer tried to cancel many of the local elections…

PrettyDamnCosmic · 10/05/2026 12:26

EasternStandard · 10/05/2026 10:41

It’s not that. She’s been speaking on why. She’s panicking about Reform and can see the results this week.

If Catherine West was still a junior minister she would not be challenging for the leadership.

PrettyDamnCosmic · 10/05/2026 12:27

SquashedSquashess · 10/05/2026 10:44

I think you’ve mixed up my commentary on Catherine West and Josh Simons. I’ve not said Catherine West is triggering the leadership contest out of spite - in fact, I’ve not commented on her motivations at all

ETA I now understand your reply was sarcastic, sorry @PrettyDamnCosmic ! I’m not very good at interpreting sarcasm online - a problem I’ve had here before

Edited

It's literally the case that if Catherine West was still a junior minister she would not be challenging for the leadership.

Standard practice with politicians I'm, afraid, Hallowedturf - the comms weren't good enough - people didn't listen - the media are to blame - anything rather than taking responsibility

Same thing with trying to cancel elections ... an obvious thing to do if you know you're going to get a hiding, but hardly palatable to the normal people they so clearly despise

She doesn’t want the leadership. She’s asking others to recognise the problem and act on it.

I don't understand why she is in such a rush. Better to do things in a calm, orderly manner than flap around like this.

If Catherine West (who nobody including me had ever hear of until yesterday) had not been fired as a junior minister last year she would not be trying to unseat Keir Starmer today.

Who knows, she is and has put her reasons forward clearly which you’re not representing correctly.

Of course she wouldn't. She's a nonentity who probably fancies her five minutes of fame and who may possibly have been put up to it by someone else.

Well, when your deeply unpopular PM subsequently says he wants to be PM for 10 years, she was proven right to move early.

I'm puzzled, where does this vibe of hating the alluded to demographic come from?

I should add I am a 'normal' person and don't feel hated by the government.

Do you not agree with her comments about the necessity for female candidates?

If we are doing speculation, then I would counter with - if it wasn’t her, it would have been someone else.

This isn't what Reform voters care about though is it?
