DP shouting to neighbour who we keep overhearing in the bedroom

Neighbourproblem26 · 06/05/2026 21:34

We’ve had an ongoing issue with one of our neighbours and overhearing sexual noises because they don’t shut their bedroom window at night. We’ve attempted to respectfully raise it but they just continue. Another neighbour has also done similar - they think the couple are doing it deliberately and getting kicks out of it.

This has really started to wind my DP up. He has made a couple of sarky comments to the man when he’s seen him on the drive into the past few weeks. The man laughs it off which has riled DP up more.

Tonight, we were coming back in from the car having been shopping together and the man was entering his house having arrived home just before us. DP shouted to him - “give her one from me”. Again, the bloke turned and laughed.

I found this an odd comment for DP to make - his response being that he is trying to embarrass them and make them feel ashamed. I said the only person he embarrassed with that was himself.

He’s now having a bit of a sulk. Does anyone else find his comment odd?

Gross and childish

ThisSunnyBee · 06/05/2026 21:35

Grim

Isittimeformynapyet · 06/05/2026 21:37

Of all the things he could have said, he chose this!?

Pinkflamingo10 · 06/05/2026 21:40

🤮

Foughties · 06/05/2026 21:44

I think in the context of what is going on its fine. It was said out of anger and to make a gross point. He was just trying to say something vile back.

TimeFlysWhenYoureHavingRum · 06/05/2026 21:46

Massive red flag. Very weird at best.

HoppityBun · 06/05/2026 21:49

The problem with your partners comment is that the neighbour thought that he was getting praised for his manly vigour. He’s going to be trying even harder, I fear.

SandwichSuperstar · 06/05/2026 21:51

Disgusting and lying about why he said it is even worse.

He really thinks you’re very thick, doesn’t he?

Edited

Because he was being praised for it.

PurpleLovecats · 06/05/2026 21:53

Well it makes it sound like your partner is jealous. Grim.

Flamingojune · 06/05/2026 21:55

Whatever your dh said, its not anywhere near as grim as the performative sex couple

RocketPanda · 06/05/2026 21:57

Your DH sounds a tad jealous and perhaps insecure about this couples weird sexual kicks.

Wouldcou · 06/05/2026 21:58

I think he is trying different tactics to get them to stop

Tactics is a term he keeps using

I think patting him on the back and requesting he fucks his partner ‘for him’, is pretty much on a par.

Polkadotpompom · 06/05/2026 21:59

Yuk.

RocketPanda · 06/05/2026 22:02

Honestly have you no tongues in your head? No need for snarky or weird comments.
"Excuse me John but are you aware that the neighbours can hear you and Jenny having sex because you leave the window open? "

Pinkdumpling · 06/05/2026 22:05

You could try to out do them, if your man is put off with sex noise maybe hes missing it in his life and is a bit jealous.

It would not bother me id think lucky her.

Hedgehogforshort · 06/05/2026 22:10

I seem to recall that a local authority issued some kinda noise abatement order regarding this very issue.

Just googled it there has been a few noise abatement orders and prosecutions, including short imprisonments of offenders.

ClairDeLaLune · 06/05/2026 22:14

Next time he should shout out at a particularly loud time “she’s faking it”!

Uniaccomm · 06/05/2026 22:27

Unfortunately this comment will have been interpreted by the gross neighbour as a type of 'boys together banter', and this merely encouraged the neighbour to be louder.

Next time make it clear to the neighbour that you are disgusted.

LaurieFairyCake · 06/05/2026 22:29

Normally grotesquely sexist but this time I think he’s trying to shame him as basically he’s tried everything else 🤷‍♀️

I wouldn’t judge for this one

The OP literally says they've tried raising it before nicely but got nowhere.
Sounds like he's trying to find a different way in the hope they pack it in.

Open your window & play various animal sex noises. Or recorded canned laughter
