Aibu to consider getting a cleaner? I work part time, have 2 days off. I have 3 kids all are now in school. My husband works long hours and I do all domestic chores, all pick ups drop offs, cooking, the mental load of what kids need etc seeing to there needs mainly myself during the week due to long hours husband works. I do not expect my husband to do more due to how we have split responsibilities across everything so not asking for input regarding this. I have a large house 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, 2 sitting rooms. I am considering getting a cleaner as I feel exhausted, thinking I would be a better person for it at home and it would give me some breathing space. Aibu to do this considering I have 2 days off? I wouldn't give everything to the cleaner to do just things like bathrooms, and some of the floors bit of dusting so would still be doing some stuff myself. Anyone got any experience of having one in this situation? Anyone who has cleaners do partial cleaning? How did it improve your life if so?

If you can afford it and your husband is on board then it can't be unreasonable really. You must have very high standards though if you have two days a week to do housework and are still exhausted, so would a cleaner definitely help you - i.e. would they clean to your standards?

Thanks for your reply. Husband is on board. I don't spend the whole time cleaning, I cook too and usually have a to do list to get through, the laundry etc, food shop. I also try to do 1 gym class. I try and sit for an hour too as I feel tired

Have you seen the doctor? Are your health levels ok? To be that tired from housework and normal parenting life can’t be right

Normal parenting? I provide all the care mon to fri not all fathers do long hours hence women may find things more manageable. Would love to know your circumstances lol

That poster was making a very reasonable suggestion, there’s no need to be snippy. Your iron levels could be low or various other things. Doing most of the care during the week isn’t unusual for many people. YANBU to get a cleaner if you want one, but feeling so exhausted isn’t ’normal’ As such

It also depends on the size of the house mine takes hours to clean.

Wow, surprised by the comments. If you can afford it and everyone is happy, go for it. Life is too short! Take some time for you.
