To not know whether 'Maisy' is a male or a female mouse...?

You know, from the books... its not really gender specific......

I call 'her' a 'she' because of the name.... but 'she' is usually wearing 'boys' clothes... at least the duck wears a tutu occassionally....

Miffy def a girl. She's called Nijntje in our house ("ninetchuh") because we have lots of Dutch Dick Bruna books. Many many pictures of her wearing dresses.

MsDemeanor · 20/06/2008 22:03

Well the name is a bit of a giveaway, surely? Not to mention her dresses and frilly pants. What else do you expect? Anatomical drawings of her little mouse vulva?

MrsSchadenfreude · 20/06/2008 22:03

Snuffy was a girl! She had puppies!

hairtwiddler · 20/06/2008 22:05

Funnily enough Maisy is just called 'Maus' in our Dutch dvds, although I always assumed she was female because of her British name.

TsarChasm · 20/06/2008 22:07

Maisy is a girl. And that Elephant she hangs about with is very annoying.

DontCallMeBaby · 20/06/2008 22:25

Quite right, MrsS, Snuffy is definitely a girl, I remember because it threw me slightly her being referred to as she/her, because dogs seem to be male by default in my little brain. Pippin likewise - the canine thespian might be a boy, but the character is definitely a girl.

Maisy has somehow mostly passed us by (have I had a lucky escape) but how on earth can you allow dungarees to override completely obviously girls' name?!

nannyL · 20/06/2008 22:31

personaly knowing Lucy Cousins who INVENTED Maisy, (and her panda is based on her oldest daughters comfort toy 'panda')

Maisy IS a girl!

4andnotout · 20/06/2008 22:31

I was trying to explain to my bil that dd3 is called Maisy and not Macey as he insisted on calling her, so i used Maisy mouse to demonstrate and the heathen had never heard of her He calls himself a parent

vonsudenfed · 20/06/2008 22:31

Elephant not as annoying as that little yellow bird. Always referred to as irritating Tallulah in this house. Cupcakes, handbags, hair ornaments... wasn't there a thread about this...

And is it just me or is Cyril the Squirrel gay? He dusts and likes fine art in the Maisy's House book (and is therefore known as Cyril Sewell).

Botbot · 20/06/2008 22:31

Blimey, I'm guilty of gender stereotyping here then. My opinion on Snuffy being a boy was based on solely the book that I had as a child - Snuffy and the Fire.

He's a firefighter, therefore he's a boy.

Shame on me

MsDemeanor · 20/06/2008 22:37

lol at Cyril Sewell!

Weegiemum · 20/06/2008 23:04

Maisy is certainly a very big mouse.

Either that or Eddie is a very small elephant!

clutteredup · 20/06/2008 23:05

Now now we know that size doesn't really matter - especially if they are supposed to be boys

nannyL · 21/06/2008 09:20

maisy IS a girl!
