Hi! Hope this is ok to ask on here!

I’ve got my first ever British wedding over here and I want to make sure I get it right!

I’ve seen loads of videos on tiktok with people in their 20s and for wedding guest dresses they wear stuff like this, and I really like the dress, but just not sure if it’s too low cut and strappy and skimpy for a wedding? It’ll be in summer if that makes a difference.

just not sure if me liking the dress is clouding my judgement haha. Honest opinions would be gratefully appreciated as I don’t want to make an idiot of myself!

Amazing- thank you all so much for the feedback!

the only disappointing thing is it’s now sold out in size 10 (I’m closer to an 8 but was going to size up and possibly get altered if too big) do you think it would be too much work for a dress alterations store to adjust it for me if I get a 12? I don’t care about cost but just not sure if it’s possible to alter a dress from 2 sizes up without ruining it?

thanks so much!

Have you put the description into Google or AI to see if any other stockists or re%sellers have it in your size?

JanBlues2026 · 04/05/2026 12:13

I would order in size 8 and 12 to try on

PfizerFan · 04/05/2026 15:00

Be warned - I was about to order this dress as it looks lovely and then looked at trustpilot reviews. Apparently this company is awful where it comes to returns and people aren't being refunded!

Gorgeous. Looks suitable especially if over 40. OP's choice is more 25-35, iykwim.

Villanousvillans · 05/05/2026 02:51

It’s perfect for a wedding.

Sorry that is not a dress many 20 or 30 year olds would wear.

Maybe if you're 80+. It looks like a it was made out of an old nylon bedspread to me (I'm 47).

Looks fine

I’ve just had to sell a dress that I left it too late to return because I just didn’t think alterations would work - the entire structure was too big. I do think it’s a risk to get a bigger size, but if you love it that much it’s worth a punt.

...if you're 80

Beautiful, perfect for a summer wedding but bear in mind our changeable weather and have a cover-up planned too!

I credit 80 year olds with better taste …

KaleidoscopeSmile · 05/05/2026 11:57

I have to say that in my personal experience it's only on MN that no-one is allowed to wear white at a wedding - I've never heard it in real life.

I've been to several summer weddings over the years where at least one female guest was in white and no-one batted an eyelid. The weren't wearing wedding dresses so no-one mixed them up with the bride and they didn't take any attention or shine from her dress.

If it’s a Muslim wedding the men and women will be separate and it’s perfectly appropriate.

Eh? Every Muslim wedding I’ve been to (as nd living in Birmingham I’ve been to quite a few the main day is always mixed - in fact some of the other days are nearly always mixed too. But no it would be appropriate, I’ve had some evil stares when my dress was deemed slightly too low cut.

But for any other wedding in the IK 100% appropriate - no one really cares in most churches now but generally people would wear a light jacket over it (mainly cos churches tend to be cool). Yes to a cover up to hand though with British weather
