To tell you all I hit a PB in my 5k time?!

I’m a fat, slow runner. No two ways about it. But I hit a PB today of 44 minutes, non stop! It’s the first time I’ve run that far without stopping. I’m pushing myself for a long distance race next year and I’m so proud. Not ashamed to say I shed a few tears when I got home. My family don’t understand running so don’t see the big deal but I am so happy 🥹

Well done! Great achievement! That’s about my 5k time too (also fat and slow!). Keep going, you’re doing great

Ponoka7 · 02/05/2026 15:11

Surely they understand you gaining stamina and that achievement? That should be enough for them to congratulate you.

FloralDeerPattern · 02/05/2026 15:12

Well done, you should be proud of yourself! It's a great feeling pushing your body and realising what you are capable of.

No they hate anything to do with running 🤣 it’s more like “oh that’s great for you, congrats” but they don’t really understand what it means 😂

It was bloody hard. I think I’ve got a long way to go before I can do my half marathon 🤣

Well done! (From another slow runner with a similar time: less fat than I was and, more importantly, feeling fitter every day!).

LittleGreenDuck · 02/05/2026 15:43

Well done, keep at it. The longer distances will come in time. Congratulations on the PB 🙌🏻

A week ago I didn’t think I could run a KM without stopping, yet here I am! I’m pushing myself further and further each day

Well done! It’s such a good feeling. I also got a PB last week at ParkRun.
