Some people on this thread need to have a bit of a think about what the term genocide actually means.

The Palestinian population rose during the Gaza war. Israel facilitated vaccination against polio for 1000s of children.

And if you look at Hamas's own stats for the number of combatants killed, you'll see a very low civilian: combatant death rate compared to other conflicts in urban areas. Deaths in war are horrible. Urban warfare is horrible. Closing the border against refugees from a war zone *as Egypt did) is horrible. Building tunnels for warfare under civilians areas is despicable.

Throwing around the word 'genocide' means you've fallen for the Hamas propaganda.

Well done.

The man was lying on the floor, surrounded, having just been tasered. He did not need to be kicked in the head to keep the public safe, British police should only take action that can kill as a last resort.

He was still holding on to his knife.

The WHO carried out the polio vaccination programme for Palestinian kids, not Israel. Palestinians shouldn’t have to be grateful for not being murdered in their own country whilst getting vaccinations.

Who was trying to erase Polanski’s Jewish identity?
Trevor Phillips was talking about the pro-Palestine marches and how many Jews in London perceived them as hate marches. Polanski said he didn’t feel intimidated by these marches, to which Phillips replied: 'But you’re not all Jews', which is obviously true 🤷‍♀️

Polanski genuinely didn't understand that point. He was absolutely bewildered.

After Hamas launched a pogrom.

Exactly this.

How sure would you be that there was no explosive device

Israel is vaccinating its own soldiers against polio, it has its own self interests.

For the Palestinian polio rollout the campaign is led ‘by the Palestinian Ministry of Health and implemented with support from the World Health Organization (WHO), United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) and other partners.’

Cathandkin · 03/05/2026 16:01

Don't most countries vaccinate their own soldiers in their "own self interest"?

DierdreDaphne · 03/05/2026 16:03

MaturingCheeseball · 01/05/2026 20:14

I think he jumped on a possible “George Floyd” moment - there would be police brutality demos, with him on a stage leading the chants. He saw it all….. until his masters told him to zip it.

You really think Polanski has "masters"? This presupposes a guiding intelligence who has donated enough money tonthe green party to call the tune, presumably (can't think how else the party would have "masters") . Is there any evidence of this?

I think there are people in the party who are a bit more intelligent than him (not a high bar) who maybe advised that he'd made a massive error of judgement, thus his updated statement.

Yeah but trying to give credit to Israel for stopping killing Palestinians kids long enough to let them by vaccinated by the WHO so they don’t infect Israeli soldiers is a weird flex.

Then why has he picked antisemitic candidates?

Ffs how can a Jewish man be an antisemite? Just get over him!

ShockingBritain · 03/05/2026 16:54

BollyMolly · 03/05/2026 11:47

There are plenty of ways to de escalate a situation and keep people safe from a man who has just been tasered lying on the floor with a knife. Don’t get close enough to be stabbed would be one easy, non violent solution, There was no need to kick a mentally ill man in the head.

That people are seeking to justify it is terrifying for society as a whole.

Edited

Double down @BollyMolly where did uou learn your training in disarmed g violent attackers?

I think it's the other way round, which is why he has backtracked a bit. He changed his tune because he got a pasting from Rowley ( which is why he was complaining about the open letter- he didn't like being publicly rebuked) then he got it in the neck from people in the GP so he backtracked on his backtrack.

Could be. What a mess.
What party leader posts "in haste" about something so controversial?
Terrible judgement.

He was still armed and wouldn’t give up the weapon. How exactly do you expect them to get the weapon from him? Until the weapon is away from him and he is fully secured he is still very much a threat.

I don’t think someone who has been tasered is capable of much

You’d be surprised, There are videos of suspects who have been tasered multiple times and still keep advancing/attacking. Tasers do not deploy continuous shocks either. There are gaps in between shocks being administered and they do not always work or do not deploy full power due to equipment failure or because the prongs are caught on clothing, not correctly placed or one misses. It does not put someone out of action for any real length of time so he remained a threat as he would not surrender the weapon.

Why are you finding this so difficult to understand? He was capable of still holding onto his knife. Which means he was still capable of detonating any explosive he may have about his person. As he was wearing a very big coat, especially on a very warm day, that certainly looked to be a possibility. And most sane people don't think it's a good idea to just wait and see when a bomb's a possibility. Now I supposed they could have tried asking really, really, really nicely, or maybe offered a tasty treat in exchange for hands up... but it was probably safer just to kick. Actually, it would have been much safer to just shoot him in the head. But we don't tend to do that here.

Oh there was a whole thread on this yesterday. People don't understand what policing is like.

Unless you consider the potential for an explosive device. As @callmejsays it wasn’t possible to know for certain there wasn’t one.
