AIBU to worry about rash spreading after 12 week jabs?

Hi all, posting here for traffic.

My DD is 3 months old and had her 12 week
jabs on Tuesday morning, she’s been fine and had no after effects other than a rash which came up on Wednesday, I took her to the GP who literally read off Google and said not to worry unless she seemed unwell (fair enough) but the rash has now spread and I’m not sure what to do.

She seems fine, no temp etc but surely this isn’t normal?

Feeling a bit dismissed by the GP and have no village so asking here for support.

A rash is quite common after their jabs, my DD developed a rash around the injection site which spread to her chest and stomach, no other symptoms and it faded after 3/4 days. I can’t recall if my oldest got any side effects from his jabs.

As your GP said, I wouldn’t worry unless she seems unwell

Was the rash only around the injection site when you saw the GP?

Thedogswhiskers · 01/05/2026 09:32

I would go back. The 12 week imms are the same as the 8 week so very possible the rash has nothing to do with the imms if no
reaction last time. More common for rashes after the MMR

Hi all.

The rash isn’t on the injection site, it’s her arms, legs, face and now neck and back of head.
We’re getting a second opinion, as I feel like our current doctor was too happy to dismiss it as due to the vaccines when this wasn’t even listed as a symptom initially,

I wouldn’t be so concerned if she wasn’t so little!

Sorry just to add, @Thedogswhiskers thats correct, she didn’t have a rash last time. The GP had a google search for MMR on his screen when I went in…which of course she hasn’t had.

It’s spread up her head now, so will see what the second opinion is.

Would be interested to know what they would have said if she hadn’t just had her jabs.

We’re on our way to A&E, phoned 111 after being fobbed off by GP and went to out of hours who have sent us there urgently, said she’s having an active allergic reaction to something.

The rash has spread and it’s over most of her arms and legs and neck now. Really worried.

Hey, last night they couldn’t say but ruled out anything too nasty with bloods, said to go back if it changed and we were back this afternoon as it changed into a different type of rash, more hot and red with rings around it. They said it was a hypersensitivity to the vaccines rather than an allergic reaction, this https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/erythema-multiforme/

So we’ve got some steroid cream for her and hopefully it calms it down, cos she’s a mess the poor thing Xx
