Posting in AIBU for traffic. Not sure where else this can go.
I posted at Xmas, got some sound advice. Now back.
Kids and I are library members. Libby, borrow box and uLIBRARY. Kids also on Libby and borrow box from the local authority their dad is in.
I have exhausted my audible free trial options.
Don’t have Spotify.
Getting pissed off that book #7 in the series has an unknown wait on Libby and isn’t available elsewhere. This is a recurrent issue across all books/ series.
I commute just over an hour a day. Kid #1 similar time as we live rurally and they get the school bus. Kid #2 will start at the high school in Aug, so same issue.
I need a platform that we can all use, has the actual books we want to read digitally or in audio format and doesn’t cost a shit ton. Why does this seem like asking for a diamond encrusted unicorn?
To clarify- library members, use physical, digital and audio books. Any suggestions? Thanks.

have you investigated Kindle Unlimited and what is available there?

Anyusernamewilldo8963 · 01/05/2026 07:49

I also came on to suggest kindle unlimited, I ended up cancelling as I just wasn't getting the same amount of time to read but with the 3 of you using it regularly it would work out (from memory) a little over £3 each a month (although I expect you'll be footing the total bill!)
If you have Amazon prime there's also books available for free via there but not as big a selection and I suspect you'll find the same issue where book 7 of the series isn't included and costs extra but it might be worth a look? I share my prime account with my mum and the annual fee is worth it alone on saved delivery fees with the amount she orders so the "free" books available to read are a bonus for me

Have you asked your library to stock it?
