I'm in a position whereby manager got me a salary increase without me asking for it and I've applied for another internal job.

Aibu in thinking they are going to be mad at me for moving?

They may be disappointed that you are leaving if they value your work but I doubt they will be mad at you.

As a manager, I quite often increase staff pay without them asking - pay is based on their skills, qualifications and experience in the role, rather than whether or not they have asked.

I would be disappointed if a valued member of staff chose to move elsewhere - either internally or externally - but I certainly wouldn't be mad with them, and I would be happy for them if I thought it was a good career move.

Most managers accept that motivated and talented staff are likely to be ambitious. And being ambitious often involves moving. It's just a fact of life, and I'm sure they will wish you well.
