Would you go to Turkey this Summer?

We are looking to book a holiday this July/Aug. We usually stay in Europe and go to one of the Greek Islands/Majorca.

Looking at Turkey it’s very cheap for an all inclusive. As much as half the price of a similar hotel in Greece/Spain. Obviously we’d be going to somewhere like Boston/Antalya.

Would you go? My concerns are the current situation with the war, and also the extreme heat.

Yanbu - it’s a brilliant place
Yabu - I wouldn’t go

I think I'd be too worried about international instability, sorry but you did ask.

What about elsewhere in Europe? Malta is often overlooked.

Iran is a long way from turkey.

do you have specific worries?

Wiffywombat · 29/04/2026 19:52

Insanely hot. Debilitating so

It’s one of the countries that Iran shares a border with. Admittedly, they are big countries.

I would probably hold off booking and see what the situation is closer to the time.

CeriseFlingo · 29/04/2026 19:58

Oh for goodness sake, the holiday resorts are very far from any trouble.

We will be going to Antalya. Have a lovely time.

Catza · 29/04/2026 19:59

I went in 2006 and vouched to never go back. It was probably the worst holiday I've ever had. Hotel wasn't all bad but definitely not 5 starts it was advertised as. It's basically the same as Egypt- knock a couple of stars off and you will be in ballpark. Which might explain the price.
It was impossible to walk the streets without being hassled to buy fake goods of some description. The only positive experience of the whole trip was Turkish bath house.

Ok, yes I guess I assumed one of the med resorts.

We’re going to Bodrum, we also usually go to a Greek island but fancied a change. I’m more concerned about flights being cancelled because of fuel shortages than any instability. I’m obviously keeping an eye on the news but not particularly worried.

Holidaydecisions123 · 29/04/2026 20:07

I know it’s a long way from the conflict I suppose it’s just that those missiles were intercepted.

It’s also the fact that you get differing views from those that say you get luxury on a budget to people who say they’ve had an awful time.

I wonder if it’s too good to be true.

I travel to Turkey twice a year. Booked for this year. Not worried about going. Some of the AI hotels in the Antalya area are great. Just do your research before booking.
I’m staying in Dalyan and Bodrum this year. Can’t wait.

justasmalltownmum · 29/04/2026 20:42

Been to Antalya numerous times. Never had any issues, apart from an overpriced taxi. We don’t buy fakes so no issues there. Weather is beautiful.

The Delphin resorts, limak Lara and Topkapi palace hotels (all in Lara beach) are very good.

VWT7 · 29/04/2026 20:53

Back from Antalya today, absolutely no issues.
The Syrian border is literally hours and hours distant.
The heat from June onwards (for me) is intolerable though - literally as the sun rises on the horizon.
I enjoy the luxurious rooms (upgrade) nice hotels, pools, spa features, food and opportunity to explore in nature.
Next time I will do my research - as the only Brits - in a hotel dominated by Russians…

Amba1998 · 29/04/2026 21:02

Just got back

war is no where near and has nothing to do with turkey - particularly the tourist areas

wouldn’t go in July and August tho because of their temp

Beetlebumz · 29/04/2026 21:13

No sorry

previouslyknownas · 29/04/2026 21:34

I’ve been to Turkey many menu times before it got really popular

I’m going later this year to Antaly as I’m having composite bonding on my teeth

OnlyReplyToIdiots · 29/04/2026 21:40

The distance from Lara Beach to the the Iranian border is less than the distance from Leeds to Rome.

It will be debilitating hot . For that reason, not a chance I’d go in height of summer. And I love the heat!!

StephQ1 · Yesterday 06:29

I wouldn’t go to Turkey for a holiday but not because of the conflict.

Pineapplewhip · Yesterday 06:32

You get much more for your money in Turkey! Stick with the Aeagen coastline part if you are worried - Kudasahi of something its called.

Pinkgorilla101 · Yesterday 07:40

I live in Turkey the majority of the year. Flying out on Saturday for 6 months. Absolutely nothing to worry about re the war. It’s almost 3000km away. And UK is 4000km from Turkey and you wouldn’t worry about staying in the UK.
As for the heat it can get very very hot. Our thermometer was at 55 at one point last summer. As long as you wear shoes to get up to the pool you won’t burn your feet. Drink lots of water and sunbathe under a parasol. You will have the time of your life. Enjoy

WhosGotTheKeysToMyBimma · Yesterday 07:45

Love Turkey for a holiday, been to some great hotels there.

I have to say I only go earlier in the year. I like sightseeing weather so end of May is really the latest I'll go.

I'd be more worried about fuel shortages and flight cancellations than war. If you book a package at least they'd have to get you home.

Holidaydecisions123 · Yesterday 08:04

It sounds like besides anything else, it will be too hot for us.

Can anyone recommend a good all inclusive though. Might consider going a different time of year.

I am worried about the fuel shortages, but if it’s a package holiday I’m presuming we’d be refunded.

We have stayed at both The Max Royal and the Cullian during April. Weather was perfect and both have heated outdoor pools. The Cullian had a large heated splash pool for the kids. Great holiday.

Swiftie1878 · Yesterday 08:14

I won’t go to Turkey again, ever!
