To feel like money threads can get derailed when higher incomes are mentioned?

I’ve noticed something on money threads recently. When someone mentions a higher income or level of savings, the discussion often seems to shift away from the original question and into comments about how it’s unrealistic or out of touch. I completely understand that people have very different financial situations but sometimes it feels like the original discussion gets lost because of that.

This has been the case on here for as long as I remember.

One of the most tedious things about this site is the guaranteed deluge of tiny violin / read the room / diamond shoes comments on certain threads. It’s like a Pavlovian response.
