Meal planning and fussy stubborn DH

When I was 17 I learnt how to make ingredients and it’s been my favourite meal ever since. Now I’m 40 and I’ve not had it in years due to DH declaring it “horrendous” and refusing to eat it.

I’ve also not had tuna pasta bake or Fish pie in years due to DH.

I don’t like jerk chicken but DH loves to make it so I eat it every now and again. AIBU to think he should agree to eat ingredients once in a blue moon?

what the fuck is 'ingredients'?

he doesn't need to eat something he hates, but he should be able to cook for himself if you decide to eat something not to his taste from time to time.

People can cook for themselves. Two of my dearest friends are - she is a vegetarian, he is a carnivore - they also have two kids. Kids are mainly carnivore. They try to make most meals so that people can opt in/out of meat., But if he really wants a bacon sandwich he will do it himself. You're not joined at the hip to your partner, you can cook separate meals once in a while if you want to.

Just make your own food, that's what we do. It's worked fine for 20 years for us. There is no need to force feed or eat things you don't want. I don't compromise on food at all.

Createausername1970 · 26/04/2026 20:30

What is ingredients?

outerspacepotato · 26/04/2026 20:30

He doesn't have to eat your food if he doesn't want to. He can cook himself something or make a sandwich.

Make ingredients. Do you mean pick your protein or carb and then make a dish using those? That's cooking. Or do you mean a certain dish?

PruneJuiceAWarriorsDrink · 26/04/2026 20:31

I think you should make a batch of ingredients/fish pie and portion it out to freeze. Your DH should do the same with his jerk chicken. Then both of you eat your own separate meals one night a week

Could I have the recipe for ingredients please?

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 26/04/2026 20:33

I've never heard of a dish called "ingredients" @Goosya

MarieTheresevonWerdenberg · 26/04/2026 20:34

What @PruneJuiceAWarriorsDrink said…… it’s not rocket science…
