AIBU to be shocked by public celebration of Michael Jackson?

Now the MJ film is out my social media feed is flooded with people doing the dances and talking about the movie etc. My local cinema is holding special events and screenings.

I personally have no doubt that he was a predatory paedophile. All the signs are there, especially how he talks about how he would never hurt a child and sharing a bed with them is the "most loving thing you can do in the world". He manipulated the world into thinking he had a "child-like persona" but was able to manage a music career worth millions... which someone who is naive would never be able to manage.

I also do not judge people who enjoy his music. It was very popular at the time, and would be associated with all types nostaligic memories. I listen to problematic artists all the time, but I don't pretend that they weren't abusive.

AIBU to be astounded that any business/media outlet would be seen dead even associating with him let alone celebrating such a horrifically abusive man.

I've also watched the p diddy trial where I believe the victims. For some reason p diddy escaped some of the worst charges although he was found guilty for some. I'm not some idiot who just blindly defends abusers because I like their music. I thought Depp was awful due to the UK case but when I heard the rest of the evidence in the US trial it was overwhelming that he had been set up.

Honestly my view is the accusers against Michael all seem not to be credible, they seem to either have parents that are into fraud and extortion (the chandlers and the arvizo's) or are proven liars themselves (Safechuck and Robson) so it makes for reasonable doubt that he was guilty. My view is we treat people as innocent unless proven otherwise.

Yes I agree, it's concerning language either way. I just think we should stick to the absolute facts of what was said though.

Well the facts of that particular clip was that he said he didn't want to sleep in the bed and MJ said that if he loved him he would and that he himself slept on the floor that time and then went on to talk about how beautiful it is to sleep with children, he sleeps with children all the time and other adults sleep with his children. He's very clearly talking about the first time the boy spent the night in his room and that he's gone on to sleep with him in the bed.

But there isn’t plenty of evidence in this case, as has been mentioned again and again.

There is. MJ admitted he slept in bed with little boys. When they reached puberty, he tossed them aside in favour of new little boys.
Boys were able to say what his penis looked like. Fingerprints belonging to little boys were found on hardcore porn magazines. Extreme security measures were put in place outside MJ bedroom to alert him to anyone approaching. None of these things have been completely disproven and are quite enough to suggest that MJ wasn’t completely innocent as some are suggesting.

fundamentallyauthentic · 01/05/2026 08:41

Something else that’s been mentioned again and again is that for many of his accusers there was a financial gain involved.

Did you watch it? Honestly the evidence was very compelling, there were literally recordings of Amber saying that she would tell everyone he hit her and would destroy him etc.

Did you not hear the things Johnny said about Amber? 😂

That Amber was begging for total global humiliation and she's going to get it,

"I have no mercy, no fear and not an ounce of emotion, or what I once thought was love for this gold digging, low level, dime a dozen, mushy, pointless dangling overused flappy fish market... I'm so f-ing happy she wants to fight this out!!! She will hit the wall hard!!! And I cannot wait to have this waste of a c guzzler out of my life!"

"Let's burn Amber....Let's drown her before we burn her...I will fuck her burnt corpse after to make sure she is dead"...

'I'll smack that ugly cunt around before I let her in'

He's completely sick in the head.

Fine to say you can’t be sure he’s guilty. But that’s not what you’re saying. You’ve said several times that you think MJ is pure of heart and completely innocent. Which you cannot possibly know. It’s utterly bizarre for someone to claim the absolute innocence of someone when they have absolutely zero knowledge of what actually happened.

No, you’re wrong. You know he was acquitted, right? Because of the lack of evidence.

Absolutely there is. There's more evidence in this case than there is in most child abuse cases.

Abusing children and people wanting to make money from a situation are not mutually exclusive.

There was plenty of evidence! MJ had very good lawyers and the jury were star stuck (much like yourself!).

But they didn't. The description of his private parts didn't match up. If it did then it would have been beyond all reasonable doubts that Jackson was guilty, but he wasn't.

I never said they were. But like I said before, when it comes to making a ton of money, some people will do and say anything. It is very naive to think otherwise.

E.g Have you read about Janet Arvinzo? I posted about her yesterday.

Something else that’s been mentioned again and again is that for many of his accusers there was a financial gain involved.

The Jackson family sued concert promoter AEG live after MJs death saying they negligently hired and supervised Dr Conrad Murray. They wanted $1.5bn in damages apparently.
Does that mean they just wanted money? or could they also have wanted people to be held accountable?

financialcareerstuff · 01/05/2026 08:51

I don’t feel I know whether he was or wasn’t a paedo. I haven’t looked into it in enough detail, and the court found him not guilty.

I’ve come on mainly to talk about the movie, as very few people on the thread seem to have seen it. I have. It’s a really great movie and will absolutely boost his popularity for a new generation.

in addition, it is not neutral on the paedo issue. This is the first part with a second planned, so this part is pre-Neverland. However, it is a very sympathetic portrayal, and actively is building the story of him being this ultra innocent, child like, caring, fantasy-obsessed individual who could innocently create neverland. The film is sanctioned by multiple Jackson family members and stars the Jackson’s nephew as Michael. This is definitely an active rehabilitation effort, and I would be astonished if the second part dealing with Neverland does anything but exonerate him, to ‘clean up’ the history books.

Some say they didn’t match up. And yet the strip search immediately led to MJ settling out of court 🤔

No, you’re wrong. You know he was acquitted, right? Because of the lack of evidence.

It's gross how often this is repeated on this thread on what is supposedly a site mostly full of women. Acquittal doesn't mean categorically not guilty it just means it wasn't proven for the standard of a criminal court and how many cases of rape, molestation and other abuses that occur in private are? Most rapists are found not guilty because at the end of the day it's without reasonable doubt is a very very high bar, but they're not declared "innocent". The bar is literally on the floor if you will discard a single child let alone multiple children saying someone sexually abused them because it didn't meet the standard for them to be jailed. If your child told you the man down the road asked him to sleep in bed with him and touched him are you going to say "well let's tell the police and go to court and then I'll decide if I believe you depending on what the jury says?" I really hope that none of you people defending a grown strange man sleeping in a bed with unrelated children (regardless of the other accusations) are parents because you have no safeguarding concerns if your personal line in the sand about abusive behaviour if whether or not a court tells you it was wrong.

Edited

I don’t have any respect for the parents who actively encouraged their little boys to sleep in bed with a middle aged man and don’t believe for a second that they wouldn’t accept money in return for their child having been molested.

If you care to research, Michael wanted to take it to court but was advised not to.

Do you normally have difficulty following discussions?

I think it's clear from my post my thought process behind bringing it up. We were discussing the fingerprints. I said that the defence then tried to say that the boys were lying and had sneaked a look at the porn in the briefcase. I also followed that with what Jacksons cousin had said, and finished by saying they were trying to make them look like deviants compared to MJ who was an innocent little flower.

I thought it was fairly obvious. I also didn't think it needed to be pointed out that he was a witness for the defence seeing as I said the extents the defence would go to make them look like deviants was disgusting.

Deviants? I don’t know how the defence tried to demonstrate that but in terms of suggesting Star was lying or unreliable, that was their job. And they did a good job because Star said he had lied before on oath.

I know you want the fingerprints thing to be the smoking gun here but all it means is that Jackson looked at the same magazine they did.

Yes that was his texts with (I can't remember the actors name) but he explained all that in court

Why was he such a innocent child like person with pornography? 🤔 Would you personally have pornography anywhere nearby where you're inviting children to sleep and spend time that they could even get access to?

Bullshit. Your continued defence of a man who chose to sleep with little boys, before chucking them aside when they reached puberty (he presumably liked them hairless) is utterly sickening.

Incredible that for all the security measures in place for this part of MJ’s home, he’d leave hardcore porn easily accessible and 2 little boys just roaming his bedroom unaccompanied…

She had a colourful history, often motivated by money.

Just read that Gavin’s sister lied about being sexually abused.
