To think e erroneously can cook?

My colleague rushes off every night telling us he has to get home to make dinner because his wife cant cook. I’d never say anything to him about it, but AIBU to think it’s simply not possible for an adult without any learning difficulties to read a simple menu and shove something in an electric oven?

It’s a white lie. He wants to rush home on the dot.

ANYONE! Anyone can cook, but I can’t type.

YANBU but a fair few NT Mumsnetters claim to be unable to cook.

And surprise surprise they live with someone who can.

I’d have more respect for them if they just admitted they can’t be arsed.

I don’t think so. He’s the big boss, he can leave when he likes. He also says how pleased he is when his daughter is home because she does cook.

Yes, I entirely get that people might not want to or enjoy it. But I don’t think I can be convinced that they can’t.

Seems illogical, doesn't it? I do always wonder what women mean when they say "my husband can't cook"... Like, which part? Doesn't know how to turn the cooker on? Can't read a recipe? Doesn't know his potatoes from his carrots? Confuses salt with sugar?
