I do agree with him that foreign nationals shouldn't be able to claim benefits and to scrap PIP for mild mental health issues. And that the money saved should go into mental health care so that everyone with mild mental health problems can access NHS care rapidly.

Farage would still have to abide to UK law
What he says he would do and what he could actually do are two very different things.
His ilk are not a friend to ordinary people they are to be used as usefull idiots.
His kind are multi millionaires.

SpryTaupeTurtle · 24/04/2026 18:36

Around 35-45 percent of claimants get turned down for Pip at the first claim. 15-22 per cent get the decision over turned at MR and around 65-75 per cent of claims are awarded at tribunal

Myli1 · 24/04/2026 18:44

Sorry to be so blunt, but I think Farage is a lying grifting snake-oil salesman who will say or do anything he thinks will gain the populist vote. I know politicians in general tend not to be particularly trustworthy, but I wouldn’t trust him as far as I could throw him.

Not all political parties have the same policies as Reform

No that’s why Reform is going to storm through .

If he was in Westminster with a majority he could change the UK Law.

Apparently the latest poll shows a drop of support in Scotland - projected seats now 15 down from 21.

And his 400,000 deportation claim in a year..that's never going to happen.

Farage is playing you (and many others) like a fiddle OP. Here is a wee heads up, everything he says is bullshit, he's a self serving toad who doesn't give a shit about the UK, or immigration or anything but money. He wants to cash in on carving up our remaining public services and selling them off, especially the NHS.

Had to laugh at the the fact you think anyone, let alone those with mental illness would be more able to get NHS care if Reform get in 🤣🤣

You do realise they want to scrap the NHS and go for the American insurance system right? There will be NO NHS if they get in!! 🤦🏻‍♀️😫🤔

If you take the number of cases highlighted in the media, then take the number of people receiving PIP, divide the first number by the second number and then multiply the result by 100, you will get a percentage. Which will be very, very, very small.

This aside from the fact that always gets forgotten, which is that PIP is not an out of work benefit.

But most people don't get caught. That's why the numbers in the papers are so small.

But the PP said that it was really had to get PIP. If so, how did the fraudsters who got caught get it?

It can't be that hard can it?

Mummybud · 24/04/2026 15:06

Both your post and mine are true. We need to invest in the NHS but people need to take more responsibility for their health - that would need to happen if we took away PIP from some conditions. We just can’t afford our welfare bill and it’s due to rise significantly. Also don’t get me started on how PIP has propped up the car industry. 1 in 5 new cars in the UK last year were purchased through the motability scheme. It makes no sense to me.

There are undoubtedly people who could and should ‘take more responsibility for their health’ (looking at you exDP who has the education and money to work out what to do but doesn’t bother).

Thing is though, it is not just about people being lazy. There are many social factors that contribute to pooer health outcomes. Eg poor housing, domestic abuse, low levels of education. My neighbour for example has been told she has higjh cholesterol and prediabetes and hasn’t got a clue what to do about it. She left school at 16 and had dysfunctional parents. She is baffled (a) that she even has these conditions and (b) has no idea about how to start to address them and (c) does not understand how serious these conditions are. I have a degree and grew up in stable and loving home. I would be doing intensive research and coming up with a plan - because I can. She is never going to have the ability that I have, partly due to much less education and partly due to the low self esteem that stems from a bad childhood.

Some people wait years to get psychiatric help. Some people are never properly medicated either.

But if people didn't get PIP for MH problems then that money could be spent on therapies and psychiatrists.

PIP just makes people get worse and worse so that they don't lose the cash.

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 24/04/2026 11:28

I know a lot about PIP as my husband is on it.

It just encourages people to get worse and worse so they don't lose the cash.

Yes yes. My DH tries to make his cancer MORE terminal.

Listen. Get lost. And then when you get lost. Get lost a bit more. As I have said in previous posts I have done medication and therapy. Disability benefits are not making me worse. Your ignorance is showing - off you jog. Some people wait three years for therapy.

I said in earlier posts that I was turned down three times for lcwra. Twice when I was suicidal. Someone else has posted that their brother ended their life after being told they were fit for work

Rubbish. You are talking rubbish. A friend of mine is only alive because she was sectioned twice.

Therapies and psychiatric help. Go tell that to people who have schizophrenia like my uncle who took his own life thirty years ago. Don't respond to me again. You are clueless

It's just people with mental health issues you despise. Got it!!

SpryTaupeTurtle · 24/04/2026 22:14

I am not worse and worse. I am recovering. I hope that helps!! Pip is a lifeline for a lot of people and if some people can't see that. That's on them.
