DS (5.5 months) won’t stop fucking shitting. He is teething at the mo on and off and is having at least four liquid poos a day. They’re either a horrible dark green or a mucousy yellow. How does he have it in him? He’s had some puree veg, porridge and fruit over the past 2 weeks or so (weaning due to severe reflux) so I’m assuming this has contributed. We are going through wipes like never before. WHEN DOES IT END?!?

It's the teething. Gives them acid poos from all the dribble. It will settle when it stops

This is what I thought but when you actually look it up, experts claim there’s no correlation.

This. It will stop in-between teeth and return when cutting a new one. Use sudicrem to ensure there's no nappy rash as this is very common while teething good luck

I think millions of mums would disagree

I've had 3 kids, believe me it's true.

Mine were always like this whenever they were teething.

I was always totally amazed how much shit such a small body could hold. It always seemed relentless. It got better as they got older though.

Topseyt123 · 20/04/2026 12:08

Experts may disagree with the idea of a causal link between teething and diarrhoea in babies, but most mothers I have ever known would not. They would say it exists.

It happened with all three of my children.

You're seeing it with your own eyes. It'll settle down in-between teeth and start up again when another one is on the way. You'll notice a pattern.

Is he having special formula for the reflux? Nutramigen can cause the most horrendous dark green poo.

No, he was on Pepti 1 but it made absolutely no difference.
