All the political parties are lying to us..

All the parties are lying to you.

Because if they told you the truth they wouldn’t be elected.

Britain is nearly bankrupt and politicians have no idea where this ‘mythical’ growth to cover obscene spending will come from
Because they can’t! There isn’t any.

The working-age population is shrinking, the number of people claiming benefits is rising, and the public sector, funded by the private sector, is ballooning.

AI is on track to replace huge amounts of white-collar jobs in the next 10–15 years. All of these people will be jobless and needing to claim benefits. Which we won’t be able to afford to pay!

The rubbish about “net zero” and “green jobs” is bollocks. Those jobs only exist during the construction phase, after that, these are largely automated industries.

As for those shouting about Universal Basic Income er … from where? How would it be funded? You’re dreaming.

And those saying we can just tax the corporations, they’re dreaming too. They’ll just operate from outside the UK.

There really is little growth, even trades will be hit because the population won’t have the money to buy their services.

We’re are in a badly managed decline, with grossly under qualified and incapable leadership in any party at all.

And all those screaming to tax the wealthy? They will just move abroad.

Pain ahead.

What would you suggest we do Op?

Bunnyofhope · 19/04/2026 11:47

Yes. That is pretty much the case.

MindBodySoul · 19/04/2026 11:50

Have you only just realised ...?

TheAutumnCrow · 19/04/2026 11:55

If I were put in charge of this mess, the first thing I'd do is make a detailed list of public spending. Then put them in priority order. And then interrogate them all in painstaking detail. I'd think about the knock-on effects and learn the lessons from previous unintended consequences. I'd be all over the actuarial figures for the population and its demographics.

Similarly with sources of income and growth. I'd order those in terms of actual realisable potential - i.e. what could increase/grow under certain conditions. I would want to understand these areas and conditions in detail.

Then I'd tell the truth, make some tough decisions, and buckle in for the ride.

Yes, we're completely fucked as a country. 50+ years of asset stripping hasn't helped. Our living standards have been artificiality high and to fix the problems will be painful, very painful. Especially for lowe/middle earners. We need to become more self sufficient, not totally reliant on imports for the basics, like food. That means sufficient agriculture to provide, but we already don't have enough agricultural land to support the current population, and we're building on decent land left right and centre. So immigration needs to be got under control, except we're dependent on incomers to prop up the Ponzi that is the UK economy. Benefits system needs complete overhaul. Too many people gaming the system, but if you stopped their benefits and forced them to work, there wouldn't be enough jobs to go around. Similarly, we're pushing too many youngsters into higher education, and all it's doing is getting them into debt while giving them shit degrees. But if we solved that there's going be thousands of people in higher education sector made unemployed.

We need substantial 'tariffs' (import duty) on foreign goods. Except we're completely hooked on cheap shit from china. And it's only cheap because of workers welfare, wages and lack of environmental concern where this stuff is manufactured. No point our small country being carbon neutral when everything we buy isn't.

And all that's before ai and robots replace most of the work force. Yep, we're fucked.

Of course they are OP.

As soon as a Politician opens their mouth, they are lying.

HoskinsChoice · 19/04/2026 14:47

Happy Sunday everyone! 🤣

patooties · 19/04/2026 14:53

I’m not sure you’re right about lots of this - are you suggesting there’s no jobs, growth or money in SAF? Or in off shore wind?
the homes which will be built - will they be free houses made of free bricks and wood? And will the builders work for free? What about the logistics connected with bringing these items into the country? Will that be done for free too?
