To feel sorry for my indoor plants so I put them outside during sunny days?!

Like I’m taking them for a walk 😆

Only in last two years had I started to enjoy having and caring for my garden and indoor plants. Before then…. I was known for an inexcusable history of killing indoor plants for not sufficiently looking after them.

Now? I’m a fruitcake and tend to them like a third child!

anyone else give their indoor plants some outdoor lovin’?!

I heard you were supposed to do this. It stresses them and makes them grow.

My indoor plants are currently in the garden enjoying the sunshine.

Many indoor plants love to play out spend summer living outdoors but you have to be careful not to give them sunburn. A nice bit of rain does them a lot of good too, washes the dust off their leaves and gives them some soft rainwater to drink.

It sounds like you are a good plant mummy

Nice to know I am not alone 😊

Some of ours go out for summer holidays (end May to Sept). Seem to thrive on it.

Dont you worry they will be much sadder when they are inside now they know what they are missing?

You’re right. They really perk up outside and it’s not my imagination!

I love taking the plants outside for a sun drink, they look so much brighter afterwards!

shellyleppard · 18/04/2026 15:25

If its a nice day I put my plants outside for some fresh air 🤣 yep I also think I'm going slightly mad

MagpiePi · 18/04/2026 15:45

I put all of mine out for the summer. You do have to be careful not to put shade loving ones in a sunny spot.

Also, on a nice warm day give them a hose shower (on a fine setting) in the sunshine. Washes off dust, makes them feel so good they grow an inch in the following week.

66babe · 19/04/2026 06:56

Get this … mine also get a shower now and then .. just a gentle not too cold dooking
No posh soap or luxury towel though

fisherhatesgravel72 · 19/04/2026 07:59

Mine only get short breaks on the kitchen window ledge as my living room is north facing. Is this abuse? 😳

ImWearingPantaloons · 19/04/2026 08:25

I put them outside for a couple of hours when it’s sunny, surely it boosts their photosynthesis rate?
