Not for me, I switched onto the mini pill at the same time as working to lose weight. I continued to lose weight steadily

I was on degesterol to try and stop periods put on one stone in six months it has really upset me as I was so happy at my previous weight and had worked hard at the gym to have a good shape. I’ve come off it now waiting for the weight to come off again, hopefully naturally as I exercise a lot.

currently considering the Mirena coil as that is supposed to stop periods as well I have heavy ones awful

There's very little evidence that the mini-pill causes weight gain.

Besides which it's generally what you put in your mouth that causes weight gain...

It’s not exactly calorific is it though…

My GP told me, when I asked as I was concerned about the same, that is doesn’t make you put on weight directly, but can increase appetite, which obviously could have that effect. As it happens I don’t think it did cause weight gain for me directly. But I was already big so who knows!

It was a joke, lighten up!

No weight gain for me and I have been on it for many years.

mindutopia · 20/04/2026 21:20

I’ve been on Cerelle for years and no weight gain. In fact, I’ve lost probably about 12 kg in that time, but that’s just down to being active and eating well.
