For example, todays popbitch contains this:

Grazia does this as well, it drives me mad

Scampmum · 19/06/2008 18:42

There are internet sites where you can find them out, but I can't remember what they are.

I would assume this is because it is just tripe they have made up. Without using names they can say what they like without fear of getting into trouble. Who ever follows them up? This way they can print what people think is salacious gossip but is just made up.

bohemianbint · 19/06/2008 18:50

Ah, Lazyline, if that's true, it's shocking. How very disappointing.

lazyline is right - popbitch has had its fingers burned a couple of times with less than true stories.

but still irritating...

zippitippitoes · 19/06/2008 19:01

well even if they printed names and addresses i would still 99.9999 times out of ten have no idea who they were talking baout and care even less

LazyLinePainterJane · 19/06/2008 19:52

It must be though! I mean, read that first one again, no specifics at all, it really could be about anyone! They are giving you NO information, yet filling up inches on pages. And if you are intrigued then imagine how many other people are!

What a job I say, making up shit and getting paid for it. I would like to have sat in the meeting where that strategy was decided ..."errr so how about we just make it up?!

Flashman · 19/06/2008 19:55

I would have thought it stopped them getting sued!

Mungarra · 19/06/2008 22:27

I used to work for a celeb magazine and we used to know the answers to the questions. I don't know how many of them were really true (the freelancer may have made them up), but I guess not printing names was to stop us getting sued.
