At night ... crisp clean cool sheets, cuppa tea and some tele! Is it sad that it's arguably the best part of my day 😂. Late 40s work full time and teenage DC

add in a no alarm set for the morning, the wind and rain can be heard on the windows, chefs kiss 🤌

mommatoone · 14/04/2026 23:03

Me too!! Like a pp said, it's my safe space. Fresh sheets, new book, pillow spray and that's me 😴. Happy days.

NoYouCantComeToTheWedding · 14/04/2026 23:06

It's the best part of my day!

Freshly changed sheets and duvet. Best feeling ever.

Having a bath/shower before getting into clean sheets and duvet cover - even better! Possibly one of the nicest, underappreciated things going.

Doggodoggo · 14/04/2026 23:20

But if you go to bed with a drink isn't it then horrible to have ti get out and get cold while your brush your teeth etc? I cant relax in bed until im completely ready.

ikeepforgetting · 14/04/2026 23:22

Tonight I have fresh linen bedding AND a freshly groomed, sweet smelling dog snuggled up to me. A rare treat that I am going to enjoy while it lasts!

NeverDropYourMooncup · 14/04/2026 23:25

I think it's probably DP's main pastime. Left to his own devices, he'd go to bed straight from work, get up around 9pm and then return a couple of hours later.

If I'm not well and go up, whether it's morning, afternoon or evening, he joins me immediately. If I don't say anything, he's there within 5 minutes - it's as though he's waiting for any excuse to get there.

Sometimes I wish he'd find another hobby.

CharleneElizabethBaltimore · 14/04/2026 23:27

personally i wish i didnt need sleep

Teenthree · 14/04/2026 23:32

Bed is God. Fact.

Down mattress topper here and down duvet encased in 100% cotton. Electric blanket, operated in advance by Alexa, and a very high and long hospital style bedside table.

lock on the door, ear plus, all in this world is well.

This!

Iv never understood having tea or any other drinks/snacks in bed. Having to then get back out to brush my teeth would really annoy me.

RS1987 · 15/04/2026 06:13

Could not agree more. Very rarely to I go out in the evening because honestly what could be more enjoyable than going to bed?

WhisperingShadowsStoptheworldiwannagetoffNSOUl · 15/04/2026 06:28

Love a cosy bed in winter
Getting out of it not so much.

blubberball · 15/04/2026 06:55

I have a chronic illness and have a love/hate relationship with bed. It is my safe space and my sanctuary, but some days I hate being stuck in bed

Gardenalia · 15/04/2026 06:57

No hot drink because of teeth brushing, no telly because that’s downstairs, no sound at all but the rain. It’s got even better since I shed the man that was making my bedroom untidy. I now have to force myself to stay out of it until 10pm. I used to stay up drinking till 11.30. It’s taken a while to get here but yes, bliss!

JJMama · 15/04/2026 18:13

Yeah but I don’t have a tv in my room, so a book for me. Oh and no tea else I’ll be up weeing in the night! But I like the going to bed and the rest of it!

Moveyourbleedingarse · 15/04/2026 18:17

Bed is the nicest place. It's where worries are left behind downstairs for another day. In bed only good lovely things happen. Sleep.

I even love being awake in the night as it means the night feels longer.

I've had two daytime naps in bed today (still on holiday from school job). And I'll be back there by 8.30.

MoaningLeeeeesa · 15/04/2026 18:34

It’s my favourite place on earth. Some mornings I say bye to my lovely bed and tell it I’ll see it soon.

I really wish I was joking.

Auroraloves · 15/04/2026 18:36

Yes, it’s my favourite thing to do

Helpmechooseanamee · 15/04/2026 18:37

Cant relate to this at all. Don't like going to bed and usually don't go till half past 12 or later and regret it when knackered in the morning.

RS1987 · 15/04/2026 18:39

My bedding is in the tumble dryer right now. I’ve had a bath and plan on getting in bed straight after I’ve had my lasagne.

thewonderfulmrswatson · 15/04/2026 18:46

Oooo i 100% agree.
I'm 41 this year & have been diagnosed with a autoimmune disease which renders me in crippling pain and bed recently has been my favourite place. All cosy & warm with my weighted blanket. I'm cushioned by my amazing mattress. I pay for youtube premium- i love watching grocery hauls especially Ocado ones (pls feel free to judge me on how sad this is). I have the room dark as I can too as much light gives me a migraine. It's heaven to me. I worked as long haul cabin crew for years before I had to leave duenti my illness & was always on my feet or looking around the place we had a lay over so it took me a while to tell myself I am ok to lay and rest.

SophieJo · 15/04/2026 18:46

After a horrendous gas bill last year we’ve been turning off the heating and going to bed early. Still go to sleep late though.

Glitchymn1 · 15/04/2026 18:49

No drinks, snacks or tv. Just clean bedding, nightwear and a shower. Not until 9/10pm though.

Especially if the bedding has been line dried and smells of fresh air. And you have a new hardback book by your favourite author. And nice smelling handcream.

Collapsiblechairwithacushion · 15/04/2026 18:50

I think I'm the opposite. I usually don't go to bed until I feel ready to sleep. My bed is associated only with sleeping, so I usually turn off the light after about 5 minutes and am usually asleep very shortly after that. However, once I'm in bed I really don't like getting out! I might wake up at, say, 6:45 and eventually get out of bed at around 9:00 after listening to the Today programme on Radio 4.
