AIBU seems the go to heading…

Maybe you are, maybe you aren’t, maybe you want corroboration not advice… but FFS why not just drop AIBU and just tell us what’s occurring…

It’s the funniest / most lively part of Mumsnet.
YABU

It’s people like you who come on here to criticise that’s causing the problems.
😉😁😁.

Well OP you just started another one 😂

ExtraOnions · 11/04/2026 08:54

Some of it is madness … people just lacking basic life-skills, or the ability to make minor decisions.

It always seems a bit odd that so many people are willing to take the OPs point ar face value, rather than thinking “this person has clearly written something in way that makes them look like a saint and the other person look like a devil”

I kinda like the deliberate wind-up ones, those multi-part extravaganzas, that move lightening quick, then her removed for “privacy meetings”

A lot of posts are people seeking validation for decisions they have already made “should I go in this trip” then listing 50 reasons why they don’t want to go.

ApplebyArrows · 11/04/2026 09:02

People post in AIBU "for traffic", i.e. a perception that posts in other parts of the forum are less likely to get much engagement.

ExtraOnions · 11/04/2026 09:05

I also love a good “drip feed” … added drama often when replies are not going the OPs way.

Twitchie · 11/04/2026 10:44

If there weren’t so many redundant, niche and duplicated topics people wouldn’t misuse AIBU.

Ive had to hide about 70% of topics because they’re just ridiculous.

But overall I agree. It’s annoying seeing non-AIBU put in the AIBU. I enjoy actually AIBU.

TY78910 · 11/04/2026 11:26

I do think it’s also because when you start a thread, the topic defaults to ‘AIBU’. So people will automatically think well it kind of fits there, saves me from scrolling for months trying to find the right place which people won’t engage with anyway.
