To think health anxiety is the new fashionable name for hypochondria?

Erm, yep...
Pretty axiomatic.

Technically no. Hypochondria is an all consuming fear that consumed the sufferer, and a clinical diagnosis. Health anxiety is more generalised and often worse during periods of stress rather than a constant.
But people have misused the term hypochondria for years so in that sense yes they are the same.
