AIBU to cut my own hair instead of going to the salon

I hate the salon - does anyone else on here cut their own hair or is this a mad thing to do?

It depends on the style you're aiming for. Short hair is more difficult to cut than long hair. I have two friends with shoulder-length hair who cut it themselves and they always look neat.
I have long hair and have been cutting it myself for years now, I wonder why I didn't start sooner! Would have saved me a lot of money and time. I spent £25 on a decent pair of scissors, looked at a few YouTube videos and have never looked back.

I take off the very ends of mine (dusting) in between cuts as I only get it cut every 9-12 months
