do unnamed links (esp in the Music section) to YouTube.

E.g. I love this

It makes me think they are wanting to keep me in suspense, when in fact I'm having to brace myself for a potential shocker of a track.

It's like being forced to eat a packet of Revels.

I like the coconut playing the drums

Hassled · 19/06/2008 10:47

I'm with you all that way - FGS just name that tune! I don't want suspense or surprises - just explain what the link is.

Boco · 19/06/2008 10:48

I like this

HaventSleptForAYear · 19/06/2008 10:48

Me too ! Especially as our connection is slow and you have to wait ages for it to come up, and then...

oh - disappointment.

OR :

oh - turn that off quick DC are around !

belgo · 19/06/2008 10:50

I don't open them without having an idea of what it is first. It could be a link to anything.

Dragonbutter · 19/06/2008 10:53

if you hover over a link, the link address will come up at the bottom of the window. then decide whether you want to look or not.

SaintGeorge · 19/06/2008 10:55

That is no help for YouTube links, nothing in the address to say what it is.

belgo · 19/06/2008 10:56

that doesn't seem to work for me dragonbutter

MadamAnt · 19/06/2008 10:56

boco

Dragonbutter - but if it's youtube, you just see summat like that

OP posts:
BigGitDad · 19/06/2008 10:59

Surely it is polite (Mumsnet Etiquette?) to do the link but say what it is eg;
The Undertones
That way if you do not like the undertones you will not click on the link.

Dragonbutter · 19/06/2008 11:01

oh i see, see that's enough for me, if it says youtube i ignore it. i can't be bothered with it.

MadamAnt · 19/06/2008 11:01

Yes exactly...or New Order

BigGitDad · 19/06/2008 11:04

@ madamant! great name by the way.

Ledodgy · 19/06/2008 11:05

I do this all the time.

SheikYerbouti · 19/06/2008 11:07

Like A Bat Out Of Hell

BigGitDad · 19/06/2008 11:40

Sheik, this is a family web site, not one for flashing, naked bats to be parading their wares for all and sundry to see...

lazarou · 19/06/2008 11:49

i always liked the russian roulette element of revels

even though i don't like peanuts (esp with chocolate)

so yes yabu

Doodle2U · 19/06/2008 11:53

It's nearly as irritating as un-finished thread titles

MadamAnt · 19/06/2008 12:09

lol doodle...I did wonder if anyone would pick me up on that.

LL - I can take no credit for pre-minstrel. Tws stolen from a verr funny thread. Must have been in chat cos I can't find it anymore.

OP posts:
MadamAnt · 19/06/2008 12:17

The un-finished thread title thing is paarticularly annoying when it promises to be something more exciting than it really is.

e.g. Am I being unreasonable to want to punch a hole in my Grandmother's....

...stack of A4 paper?

or

LOOK AT MY TIT...

...LE!!!

OP posts:
EachPeachPearMum · 19/06/2008 15:00

The title thing is important I feel, to lure 'em in!

But the 'you tube' link- yes it pees me off royally! Especially if I'm looking at work, and can't click them! (of course, I never do this, erm )
