AIBU to no longer partake in company ‘TikTok’s’

I work for a national leisure chain. There has been a push to ‘grow the online channels’ (TikTok and Instagram) with a colleague appointed to lead this. It started with normal enough videos - things like getting to know staff better, top tips for new members etc.

Since the end of last year it has just got silly however. Around Christmas there was a video filmed with a few of us dressed up, and a girl jumping up and down on these pushed together tables - totally dangerous. I called this out to shrugged shoulders.

Last week, I was talked through a ‘script’ for a video (copied from an existing ‘trend’) where someone would walk out of the staff loo to me waiting and have a horrified look on their face. Basically to pretend they made it smell. Just pure infantile humour.

Anyway, I am now of the mind to tell them to stick it permanently, but I’m mindful I am one of the older ones (late 30’s) so perhaps I’m just behind the times.

Oh God.

I would be looking for another job if the company I worked for thought a smelly loo would boost their popularity and expected me to get involved.

I don't know if you would jeopardize your job by saying no, but I definitely wouldn't be partaking in this.

Once a stupid video is out there, it's out there. I don't want the faff.

Not a chance would I be on our work TT. Ever.
Even though I am a frequent TT user.

Nope. The assumptions of consent and participation in workplaces in general re social media and even images on the intranet is beyond ridiculous.

No I wouldn't agree to do anything that was silly. A professional q&a about what it is like to work there fine (as long as I get sign off) but otherwise a hard no as it doesn't benefit you at all.
