Sparkles all over vision both eyes for a few seconds

Hello, shamelessly posting here for traffic. I’m aware that of course no one here can give actual medial advice. I’ve run this through Claude/ ChatGPT etc.

but was wondering if anyone experienced this before. Today I was just walking around and suddenly I saw sparkles in my entire field of vision- both eyes, top/ bottom / sides and in front of me.

it was as if I had walked into a swarm of tiny sparkly flies / dust. It lasted 20-30 seconds and then went away.

I had the same thing once before, 6 months ago.

both times, I did not feel unwell / dizzy or like I was about to pass out or anything like that.

I suffer from MS, which is well controlled and very quiet the last few years. I also suffer from migraines but never with aura.

could this just be a migraine with aura or ocular migraine or something ? Last time I didn’t go to the doctor but mentioned it when I was discussing my migraine management in general and the doctor did say I should go to the eye clinic. I didn’t go. I did have a recent eye exam at the optician and all was fine. I do need glasses etc but eyes healthy.

it sounds self limiting to me and not something I am overly stressed about. It doesn’t sound like an MS eye symptom either. I’ve had optic neuritis and that’s completely different. Am I being too chill or is it just one of those things ? Thank you !

As it’s now fully resolved - I would book into your GP tomorrow for a review and a Blood Pressure check etc

I had the exact same thing. Asked the optician last week and they said low blood pressure

i know what it feels like when I’m feeling faint and get up too quickly and get stars / eyes go funny because I feel like I could pass out. I think that’s blood pressure related etc. this episode was just so absolutely random and not accompanied by feeling unwell / weak or sick in any way. I’ll check with GP tomorrow. Can’t hurt.

This is usually the beginning of a migraine with aura for me and complete loss of vision untiL it’s done its thing.

See Dr but i have experienced this and awful tunnel vision. Lasts a bit then goes. It was a migraine!

DH gets this occasionally and was told it's an optical migraine.
