AIBU to think AO delivery drivers shouldn't be phoning at 6.20 am?

This is too early for a phone call right? Especially when they're letting you know that your appliance is coming at 2pm.

Yes that is too early for a 2pm delivery. I would say fine if your delivery was the first of the day and they were calling to let you know they'd be with you at 7ish, but not for a 2pm slot.

You have to wonder what time they phoned the person who had a 7am delivery if they've phoned you so early for a delivery that's not happening until this afternoon.

I thought it was usual that they phoned when you were one of the next few deliveries. It seems odd calling so early when they will have quite a few before yours.

I assume they phone everyone on their delivery schedule at the beginning of the day for ease. I didn't realise how early it was when they called and just got up and started the day, assuming that it must be at least 7 o’clock!

AO definitely seem to love an early wake up call. I had a fridge delivery a few years back. Due at 8am but they knocked on the door at 0607 because they were ‘in the area’ and it was easier just to get it done. I have no idea what they were thinking!

Pippa12 · 08/04/2026 08:37

That’s nuts for a 2pm delivery! I thought you were going to say it was due at 7am!

ApolloandDaphne · 08/04/2026 08:37

I imagine they might have a number of people who forget they are due a delivery so phoning at that time means they probably get most people at home. It's just one morning and I imagine you are glad to know your appliance is on its way?

I love AO. I love that they actually keep you informed so that you can safely plan the day and not have to stay within half an hour of your house. If they turned up early on the off chance and you weren't thee or asleep thats on them and they'd hsve to come bavk. But then to be fair, I'm usually awake by 6.20 anyway.

Why phone though rather than text? I'm also expecting another delivery of kitchen appliances today (new kitchen!) - they sent me a text reminder yesterday and tracking information last night. And no early morning phone call!

Probably because it's easy to ignore a text. If they actually speak to the buyer then they know that they are aware of when the delivery will be. I couldn't get upset over a one off phone call but then again I am usually awake early anyway.
