Bullying, homophobic, racist teen guest of friend

Long time friend from grad school who lives abroad brought her 16 year old son to visit me at home enroute to Europe. Boy knows my son has ASD but was incredibly rude and repeatedly called people with ASD retarded, academic boys "gay" as a slur (this boy plays rugby), how he disliked certain ethnicities and boasted about his rich friends and their links to white collar criminals and did I tell you, how rich he was and the sport cars he was getting for his 18th birthday and the house his mother was going to buy him?

I was stunned, as I had never encountered such a vile teen from DS's school mates in 17 years, but worse his mother laughed at all his jokes and dissed me for saying I don't buy lavish gifts for birthdays.

I was so shocked that I didn't tell the boy off in person in my own home. Aftwrwards, I messaged the mother to say I was very uncomfortable neither of us as adults corrected the boy. However in future I would absolutely not tolerate his discriminatory and homophobic teenage trash talk. Obviously I have never heard from said friend again. Would you have been offended? Told off vile teen who is always indulged and never told no and is always the victim?

The boy is vile and his mother endorses his behaviour so I’d not be in contact with friend again. I hope they didn’t stay with you and your DS was subjected to this vile pair of humans for more than a few hours?
