I understand veganism, I understand vegetarianism.

I do not understand pescitarianism.

Explain it to me.

You're determined to have an argument and win it even if noone else is involved haha.

Fair enough, I note nobody answered my very adroit post regarding UK fish consumption.

Fine.

Because nobody actually cares about their nonsensical flesh eating choices. Really.

FWIW, I agree, and I don't understand it either.

The only pescatarian I know thinks it's ok to eat fish because they don't have a soul whereas other animals do!

It’s a preference for me, others nay bring ethics into it.

Nothing more to explain or understand and no-one’s business but mine what I eat and why.

DH is a pescatarian. He doesn't like the texture of meat and is also concerned about the most sentient animals such a pigs who do appear to understand what is happening. He doesn't eat lots of fish but it gives him a lot more options eating out so he isn't forced to eat vegan processed stuff or mushrooms which he doesn't like. It also makes it easier for us to eat as a family as the rest of us are omnivores.

Yes this is my position as well.

littleburn · 20/04/2026 16:54

It’s just a preference for me. I don’t like the texture of meat, but I don’t mind some types of fish and shellfish. I don’t usually put a label on it as it’s not part of my ‘identity’, it’s just a food like/dislike. I get what you’re saying OP, but for some of us it’s not that deep!
