Scouts going mixed sex and the rise of toxic masculinity

When scouts decided to go mixed sex for all sections a lot of boys who would have had a healthy boy only space and strong male role models then suddenly didn’t. And these boys are now young men and some of them a producing the manosphere podcasts and spreading their toxic masculinity crap. The timing is right.

AIBU to think boys still need healthy boy only spaces, and strong male role models? and scouts have let them down..

I think the argument of scouting groups “having” to let girls in to bump up numbers to keep them viable is a bit of a variation in different places.
Here all units are full all the time, with waiting lists too they’re all really popular.
I gave my daughter the choice of beavers or rainbows and she chose rainbows, then brownies and now guides - really enjoys it.
Both sons are in scouting (beavers -
soon to be cubs and then scouts).

I value the girls safe space for my daughter tho. It’s good that there is a choice too for kids. Having said that there is only 2 girls in beavers out of 20, apparently 3/20 in cubs and none currently in scouts but I’m guessing in some areas maybe more of an equal split.
