AIBU to want peace in the kitchen after a long day?

I have had a long day, prepping for a big Easter Sunday lunch for 14 and now cooking dinner for 5. Just want to be left alone quite frankly but my DH who has been nit picking at me all day for his minor irritations of me. Is now sat rooted to our breakfast bar which is part of an open plan kitchen.
he isn’t actually taking to me but him being there is just at the moment is annoying me.
I want some peace to cook tea and sip a glass of wine away from the issue if I drop something or do something he is there to witness it.
he is generally a lovely man but he has a big sport thing coming up and he is nervous and that increases his nitpicking and have had enough today.

Just turn radio on above conversation level

I feel your pain but you can't really ban him from an open plan kitchen!
Have you got a nice big set of headphones? Tell him you want to catch up on the Archers or something!

Oh, and get that glass of wine poured and ignore every nit pick.
And maybe step away from the sharp knives.

Yanbu I hate the relentlessness of cooking dinner but I also love the kitchen quiet time. Kick him out - if he’s usually lovely, do it nicely 😅

@SecretSquid that did make chuckle 🤭 all sharp knives away as do love him and I know I cannot evict him😆
thank you - large glass poured !
