To be disappointed in the weather today?

It’s the first bank holiday of the year (if you exclude New Year’s Day) and the weather is crap. Drizzly rain, dull and miserable.

I know you can never rely on the weather in this country but what a let down. And guess what, Tuesday is forecast to be sunny and 19c. Typical.

Gorgeous here. North Mids. 15C, and sunny. Bit breezy. Off into the garden in a minute to do some weeding.

BogRollBOGOF · 03/04/2026 12:26

It's been somewhat uninspiring weather all year so far. The mud still hasn't dried out from the relentless rain and damp in Jan/ Feb, and the grey's barely shifted since. On the rare occasion that the sun's come through, there's been bitey little winds to sap the heat from it, and it hasn't lasted long.

HoppityBun · 03/04/2026 12:28

It’s the beginning of April. What weather do you expect? Some sort of divine alteration to the meteorological configurations because it’s some notional anniversary of something or other for one particular religion?

Buscobel · 03/04/2026 12:34

Our next door neighbour’s daughter’s wedding is today. Wet, cold and windy.

Squirrelsnut · 03/04/2026 12:35

Storm Dave.

It’s in the rules you can have only just one reasonable BH with the weather. If have two, the following year, you get none

MonsterasEverywhere · 03/04/2026 12:56

YABU as the weather in the UK around Easter is always unpredictable. Don't forget you are more likely to see snow at Easter than Christmas here.

I’m in the North Midlands (England) and it’s raining, windy and 13C!

Zanatdy · 03/04/2026 14:40

its no surprise, but yes annoying to see Tuesday’s forecast, and too late to book time off.

pictoosh · 03/04/2026 14:45

It's seasonal enough but I'm still sick of it. Having had a stressful, troubled winter, I'm more than ready for a bit of light and adventure. I work in a school so I'm off for two weeks...looks like it's going to be grey, wet and miserable for the foreseeable. Fuck sake.

CrushingOnRubies · 03/04/2026 14:51

Quite glad tbh. It’s making me stay on and do housework. It’s just nice enough now to take the dog out who is clearly bored of chasing the hoover around

Brightbluesomething · 03/04/2026 14:51

It’s been glorious sunshine all day here (up north) but the second I said to DD that I was going to pot up my tomato seedlings the heavens opened. So it’s clearly my fault. Sorry.

BootMaker · 03/04/2026 14:53

Blue skies and blustery in Yorkshire, very mild.

Rainbowdottie · 03/04/2026 14:55

I think sadly that’s just the UK, you never know what you’re going to get. When I worked in schools I used to hate the Feb half term, just a week of cold and misery, seemed pointless to me!!! Would have rather had the week attached to something else!

WaryCrow · 03/04/2026 14:55

I’d complain if I were you op😊

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 03/04/2026 15:23

I am completely fed up with it. I have SO many jobs I need to do in the garden and I can't even get near it yet thanks to all the rain and strong winds.

lazyarse123 · 03/04/2026 15:27

Dh wanted to cut the grass as it was lovely yesterday and forecast dry today so he wanted it to dry out a bit more. It rained overnight so he's not pleased but heyho. It's dry now but very windy. North Yorkshire.

ParadiseIsNoBunker · 03/04/2026 17:10

Been out doing mammoth weeding, cutting back and planting in elderly parents garden just wearing joggers and a tee-shirt. Been mild, but windy and a mixture of overcast and sun. I started at midday and have just come in. Lovely day for it! East Anglia.

Freysimo · 03/04/2026 17:18

I'm in West Wales. It's been raining ever since November apart from an odd day.

RaininSummer · 03/04/2026 17:23

Agree it's horrible. Cold, grey and drizzly. I would accept it's the time if year if it wasn't a given that the minute I am locked up in the office again, the blue sky and warmth returns. Very annoying.

This is how I feel about Easter. I'd rather have the Friday tacked onto the end of May or August bank holiday weekends.

It's because Carol retired. She used to bring out the sunshine.
