AIBU to be cross about vouchers that didn't work?

I have used Fairy non bio washing pods for a really long time (DD has eczema) with no problems. Noticed clothes were smelling musty and traced it back to the pods after a bit of research online. I had bought a massive pack costing £19 and only used a few so contacted Proctor and Gamble (P&G) who - eventually - agreed to give me a refund. Got vouchers, went to Tesco, picked up eligible P&G products including a huge pack of Fairy dishwasher tabs. At the checkout the codes on the vouchers wouldn't scan; I paid for everything and was directed to customer services. Customer services spent ages trying to scan the vouchers and eventually said sorry but the voucher codes didn't work I should refer to P&G. Meaning I had bought a massive pack of Fairy dishwasher tablets and bottle of Viacal I didn't really want but hey ho I assumed I would get a refund. Contacted P&G expecting to get a refund - but no! They advised I could try to use the vouchers at different shops eg to 'Sainsburys, Morrisons' etc. Having already been a bit embarrassed at Tescos - even though Tescos were very nice about me trying to use invalid vouchers - I told P&G I didn't want to take the vouchers around different supermarkets and that I would like a refund. They have said I have to post the vouchers back and that then I can get the £19 back but only once they have confirmed they have received the (faulty IMO) vouchers. I now have dishwasher tablets and viakal I didn't really want to buy and still no refund for the faulty washing pods. AIBU to be annoyed that I feel a bit let down, embarrassed and annoyed by this whole experience?

You should have just returned the items there and then to Tesco.

You've said twice you don't want the items. Firstly, don't know why you didn't use the vouchers for something you wanted. Secondly don't know why you paid for them/didn't take them back for a refund?

Why didn’t you put them back when the voucher didn’t work?!

BoldBlueZebra · 03/04/2026 07:40

This is an issue with Tesco at the moment I’m not sure what’s going on with them but they are a nightmare with voucher acceptance

I see what you mean but the checkout chap assured me customer services would refund me then I spent so long with customer services I had to rush back rather than waiting for them to call the manager to refund/dig the items out of my trolley. It's fine, I'll just post the vouchers back and request a refund. I was just upset and embarrassed. I won't buy Fairy again and that will make me feel better....

P+g made this much fuss over £19! They should just refund you
