Why can’t some people deal with their DP’s ill health?

Not a thread about a thread but I’ve seen a comment on one just now saying “people often show their true colours when their DP is ill…” and I realised that, yes, they bloody well do!

I have two ex-DPs who were like this. Got sulky, grumpy, and all out of sorts if I wasn’t well. Then often they’d get the same illness but far worse (allegedly) and bang on about being for everrrrr.

Just for balance, and not to bash men, my DM was the same. We have the same long term condition but hers always had to be far worse, and there was no sympathy at all for my suffering. She didn’t like other people sympathising or helping me either.

Narcissistic exDP was like this because if I was ill and he wasn’t it took the attention off him.

There was one day when we both had a phone appointment with the same GP. She phoned both of us on the landline. After his appointment, he came to tell me, with great satisfaction, that my appointment took 9 minutes and his 17 minutes.
