This is what I’ve eaten over the last 7 days.
Does this seem like too much food to you or not a lot of food?
Female 5 foot 2.

Day 1

4 egg omelette with 2 pork chops and red pepper, sweet corn.
Snacks - half a 900g pack of cheddar cheese and half a 200g pack of mixed nuts spread out and picked on over the day.
5 cups decaf coffee.

Day 2

3 chicken thighs and 2 chicken legs with some veg.
Snacks - half a 900g pack of cheddar cheese and half a 200g pack of mixed nuts picked on throughout the day.
5 cups decaf coffee.

Day 3
4 egg omelette and pack of prawns, sweetcorn and spinach.
Snacks - half a 900g packet of cheddar cheese and half a 200g bag of Mixed nuts.
5 cups decaf coffee.

Day 4
Half a roast chicken picked at.
Snacks - half a packet of 900g cheese and half a packet of 200g nuts to pick throughout the day.
5 cups of decaf coffee.

Day 5
4 fried eggs, mushrooms, an avocado, tomatoes and bacon.
Snacks - half a pack of 900g cheddar cheese and half a packet of 200g mixed nuts.
5 cups decaf coffee.

Day 6
500g diced beef fried with red pepper and mushrooms.
Snacks - half a packet of 900g cheddar cheese and half a packet of 200g mixed nuts.
5 cups decaf coffee.

Day 7
1 Tin of tuna and salad.
Snacks - half a packet of 900g cheddar cheese and half packet of 200g mixed nuts.
1 bottle of white wine.

2 fillets of salmon with green beans, broccoli and red pepper.
Snacks - half a 900g packet of cheddar cheese and half a 200g packet of nuts.
5 cups of decaf coffee.
1 bottle of white wine.

I have used the term half a pack instead of (450g) cheese and 100g nuts because I thought people would be able to imagine a 900g block of cheese and 200g pack of nuts easier as that’s how they come.
Does this sound like too much food or not enough food please?
I typically eat one meal a day in the morning and pick on cheese and nuts sporadically for the rest of the day.
This is because I need to eat until I’m full or I will still feel hungry after so I eat a big main meal first thing as it works for me and I feel full.
The cheese and nuts are because of a craving for cheese. I love my cheese.

That’s a shocking amount for someone to consume and I’d assume anyone who does is significantly obese.

why do you not eat properly? Why jisy one meal a day then gorging on highly calorific foods?

DoubleShotEspressox · 30/03/2026 14:45

Well, truth be told I would fucking love to eat like that. Cheese all day. Yes sir.

Notsosweetcaroline · 30/03/2026 14:46

Kateluvscats1 · 30/03/2026 14:32

I really would love to know your BMI, I'm guessing you are a healthy weight, it sounds like a high protein diet similar to the keto diet. A low carb diet is healthy in my opinion. Your diet sounds delicious!

I’m guessing seriously obese.

beAsensible1 · 30/03/2026 14:49

Why are you eating near on half a kilo of cheese a day? You must be shitting bricks.

there is not enough water fruit or veg or carbs really. It’s not balanced

BauhausOfEliott · 30/03/2026 14:49

Kateluvscats1 · 30/03/2026 14:32

Eating double the amount of calories required - which the OP is doing, easily - is not remotely healthy, regardless of whether it's 'keto' or not.

It is not healthy to eat 2,400 calories in nuts and cheese every day, on top of a high calorie meal, unless you have an extremely physical job or are a pro athlete. And the OP has said she is a 5'2", sedentary middle-aged woman.

The OP has so far refused to tell us her weight or BMI, and I suspect there's a reason she won't tell us.

LapinR0se · 30/03/2026 14:24

This is a textbook Atkins style diet which puts your body into a state of ketosis. You might well actually be quite underweight OP. Are you?

Atkins doesn’t defy biology, it’s still cals in. The op is consuming vast quantities.

Dweetfidilove · 30/03/2026 14:53

likelysuspect · 30/03/2026 14:30

Moorish.

I think you might have jumped the shark there.

Aldi does have that cheese...
British Mature White Cheddar Cheese
0.9 KG (£5.54/1 KG)

midgetastic · 30/03/2026 14:54

Atkins worked because when they measured it people were eating far fewer calories after the first few days

this isn’t Atkins-

Sunloungerhogger · 30/03/2026 14:55

I know literally everyone has already said this but wow, that’s nearly half a kilo of cheese a day. That’s quite mind boggling.

Notsosweetcaroline · 30/03/2026 14:56

Op have you tried to kid yourself that as you have one meal a day then being fat isn’t due to what you consume and your family have been trying to tell you otherwise?

even your one meal is massive, it’s like three to four meals in one, I genuinely don’t know how you don’t feel sick, 500 g of diced beef is 4 portions.youshould he eating a quarter of that. And 5 chicken thighs or legs, half a chicken, it’s just really huge quantities, the fact you do it in one sitting doesn’t make it one meal, it’s 3 to 4 times a healthy portion size. Then all the cheese and nuts on top.

you must feel like shit.

midgetastic · 30/03/2026 14:58

15 portions of dairy a day with the cheese - recommended 2 or 3?

0 to 3 portions of fruit and veg
recommended 5 to 10

Tryagain26 · 30/03/2026 14:59

It seems a lot to me. I am the same height as you and I couldn't eat all that fat. To me it's much too much cheese. It looks as though you are trying to focus on protein but fiber is also very important and carbs are not all bad.
Do you eat fruit?

Dweetfidilove · 30/03/2026 15:00

If OP's family are commenting, it's because they've seen how unhealthy it is.
@ivyball , counting all that as one meal per day is just tricking yourself into thinking you're being healthy. Akin to - I only eat 1,200 calories per day, but 500 of those is always ice-cream.
At least this thread confirms what your family is saying, and will hopefully spur changes in your diet.

Edwardbear1 · 30/03/2026 15:01

Is this the wife of the man from the other thread ?

Pipsquiggle · 30/03/2026 15:02

@ivyball - what are you wanting from this post?

Were you tired of your family making comments and wanted 'a third party' opinion?

What is your health like? Are you overweight? Are you hoping to lose some pounds?

I have found Mumsnet more helpful if you give a few more details (without being outing)

BauhausOfEliott · 30/03/2026 15:02

likelysuspect · 30/03/2026 11:51

I mean even though this is a ridiculous and nonsense thread, some of the replies are quite telling about the average mindset

So many replies asking 'are you trying to lose weight'

The thread is in AIBU and not weight loss chat

OP doesnt imply or indicate that she is embarking on a calorie deficit, simply asking is it too much food or too little. And she doesnt clarify whether she means by volume or by macros.

People always think that your diet is A diet, when quite simply your diet is your way of eating

Well, she asked if it was 'too much' so I think that implies she means 'too much to be healthy'.

Volume alone isn't really relevant to health. You could eat a small volume of calorie-dense, nutritious food and provided you felt full, it would be OK. Similarly, you could eat a huge volume of calorie-light, nutritious food and provided you weren't so full you were clutching your stomach after every meal, that would also be OK.

So I think it's more a case of logic than 'average mindset' that's making people focus on the calories/nutrition, because that's really what the issue is for health. There are certainly health implications to eating that many calories every day for a middle-aged, sedentary woman. Even if she wasn't consuming them in the form of cheese, it would still be 'too much' unless she is actively trying to become morbidly obese, and if she was, I feel like she'd have mentioned that.

Franpie · 30/03/2026 15:02

That has to be the weirdest food diary I have ever seen.

TheHungryHungryLandsharks · 30/03/2026 15:03

Jeepers creepers. 1800 calories on cheese.

To put that in perspective, yesterday I had:

200g chicken breast, wrapped in parma ham and stuffed with cream cheese/spinach/chillies and garlic 600 Calories
200 calories of veg (aspargus and aubergine) 100 Calories

Latte (skimmed) 200 Calories

3 x eggs 280 Calories
25g Cheese - 100 Calories
20G Chorizo - 100 Calories
Spinach - 10 calories.

Yoghurt - 125 calories
Blueberries & Strawberries - 100 calories
Lizzis Granola - 220 calories

All that is 1800(ish) calories.

I don't understand why you would eat that much cheese....when you could eat everything I have put above instead (and be healthier, happier and more satisfied?!). I even had cheese TWICE!!!

OP's possible weight aside...why would anyone waste 1800 calories on cheese. 😵

Notsosweetcaroline · 30/03/2026 15:05

There’s about 2500 cals in the cheese and nuts alone. Most sendenry women at 5ft 2 will need 1800 - 2000 a day max, then the massive meals. Taking average daily intake probably between 4 and 5000 cals a day. With two bottles of wine a week on top.

youd either be gaining fast or maintaining a very heavy body weight at that level of extreme consumption.

ImImmortalNowBabyDoll · 30/03/2026 15:06

midgetastic · 30/03/2026 14:54

Atkins worked because when they measured it people were eating far fewer calories after the first few days

this isn’t Atkins-

Exactly, I knew someone who was on Atkins and he said it worked because he ate meat for breakfast and it filled him up for the whole day, and he regained all of the weight as soon as he resumed a normal diet. I don't know how people think you can maintain or lose weight if you eat more calories than you expend, regardless of what the calories are. Do they think calories from bread are turned into fat but calories from eggs and cheese are taken by the protein fairies?

RichardGeresTie · 30/03/2026 15:07

OP your diet sounds like something from Freaky Eaters.

Bearbookagainandagain · 30/03/2026 15:08

ivyball · 30/03/2026 13:01

Well no probably not.
This thread has gone the opposite way that I was expecting, I thought my family were being ridiculous so I came to see what others thought.
I thought people were going to tell me I ate really healthy meals or that I should eat more because one meal a day isn’t enough.

All the food you listed are healthy, they are just very imbalanced! You eat a lot of fat and proteins, and very little carbs and fibers.

If the one meal a day work for you, you could try to increase the veggies and carbs progressively by swapping some of the proteins (e.g. have some raw veggies with your cheese, or some dips with wholemeal pittas, reduce the meat and add some noodles to your stir fry, etc).

Notsosweetcaroline · 30/03/2026 15:08

ivyball · 30/03/2026 13:46

I do yes, I fry it with red pepper and mushrooms and put it in a dish and then I eat it as one meal instead of 3.

What and then tell yourself you’ve only eaten one meal?

Doggymummar · 30/03/2026 15:10

So much food, I only read day one, four egg omelette? And other food two eggs would be plenty for me

gamerchick · 30/03/2026 15:12

ivyball · 30/03/2026 13:12

Yikes I don’t want those. I’m lucky no digestive issues so far.

Tbf that's where my first thought went.

You're prime age for them as well.
