How many and what type of specifically Easter based things do you do?

Mulledjuice · 29/03/2026 10:27

How about you, OP?

Is this a confessional for hot cross bun addicts?

Q2C4 · 29/03/2026 10:53

Does eating chocolate eggs count?

Is that really all you do with your kids?

None. Zilch. Nada. (If eating easter eggs and hot cross buns doesn't count as per snarky telling off of pp)

shellyleppard · 29/03/2026 11:10

When my children were younger we used to make and decorate biscuits and share with the teachers/neighbours. Also the Easter bonnet parade at school. Now they are older we just eat Easter eggs and build Lego. The Lego building has been going for years ❤️

Attictroll · 29/03/2026 11:10

When dc smaller it always felt like we did too many Easter egg hunts it became hilarious but they loved them. One at school, one at cubs, one local one in a park then usually one at a nt place just because we were there. Now it’s meals with different family members. Maybe one hunt if we are at a place with one. Also fish and chip tea on Good Friday

GreyCarpet · 29/03/2026 11:10

Well mine are 19 and 27 now but I used to do an Easter Egg hunt for them in the house or garden and then we'd eat one in front of a film.

What else are you supposed to do?

34feeling54 · 29/03/2026 11:11

Little Easter egg hunt in the garden and some craft activity to help fill half term. What do you think people should be doing?!

squashyhat · 29/03/2026 11:11

Church with MIL and roast lamb lunch.

EatSleepDreamRepeat · 29/03/2026 11:14

Easter Sunday roast dinner with wider family. Give an Easter egg. Over the Bank Holiday will go out eg walking if its dry enough. But no Easter specific activities.

Our tradition was eating Easter eggs - it’s what Easter means to us! Don’t even do that now as we live in a country which doesn’t do chocolate eggs

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 29/03/2026 11:18

We used to when the dcs were little, but generally this was filling the Easter holidays type stuff- if a national trust was running an Easter themed hunt/challenge thing within a 30 min drive of my house, we’d do that at some point over the holidays! There would be themed crafting kits and biscuit decorating etc in our house. If there was a show on or an event at the local theatre, we’d go.

This year it’ll be egg hunt on Easter Sunday morning, big roast for lunch, that’s about it. Not even sure if we’re seeing family. It’s big exam year in our house so deliberately not booked anything.

That’s lovely 💓 when do they become too old for the main activities would you say?

I don’t think they should be doing anything 😬 just wanting ideas and curious about others

No need to criticise others.

It would be polite to set out what you do before judging others.

Pretty much. What else would we do over and above a normal weekend? We visit family (pretty standard for a weekend), we might visit a national trust property or something similar for a day out (again, pretty standard). We don’t go to church as we are not religious.

shellyleppard · 29/03/2026 11:24

@Itsglitchingagain probably when they started senior school, no interaction/events with the school. In infants and juniors there was a lot of seasonal events happening?

Not at all, was just asking a normal question and had some sarky replies

Nothing other than the easter bunny bringing the eggs and that’s only because we’re Greedy Gobblers and love chocolate! When we had the caravan we would go and stay in that for the long weekend but nothing at all to do with Easter! We go away a lot and doing activities for Easter just seemed to be doing activities for activities sake!

A couple of replies were sarky to me 😂 I asked a normal question and had some great feedback which I’m grateful for

I'll be making rice crispie Easter cakes and doing an egg hunt for my teens. Easter Sunday will be a family gathering where we eat a Burmese noodle curry with extended family.

As a child I would be taken to church Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday would be an early multi faith walk of witness with a multi faith service held at another church, followed by Mass at 3pm. Good Friday was a day of fast and abstinence so basically beans on toast. We weren't allowed to watch TV that day either.
And either the Easter vigil on the Saturday night or the early morning Easter Sunday service. Followed by an egg hunt and a large family gathering (with above mentioned curry).

It was a very Catholic intense upbringing!

Sofado · 29/03/2026 11:28

A chocolate Easter egg each. Church. Once I did a mini egg hunt with written clues. We buy flowers for the house, usually daffodils. We do a Sunday roast.

No Easter bonnets or parades or Easter gifts or Easter bunnies.
